Adding to its recent string of hires, HERO has appointed brand, marketing and CX strategy veteran Ken Chan to its Melbourne team as head of planning.

A seasoned strategic advisor who draws from a diverse knowledge base, Chan’s experience spans brand, marketing and business operations with his award-winning track record of work in advertising, management consulting and client-side roles.

Previously a management consultant in strategy and digital transformation with Accenture, Chan was also head of strategy at VML and Hardhat, leading both planning and CX strategy functions. Chan’s client experience spans a diverse set of industries and brands, including NAB, Google, Coles, Ford, Microsoft, AAMI, Defense Force Australia and Officeworks.

Says Ben Lilley, creative chairman and founder of HERO: “Ken is well known and well respected across Melbourne for his incisive approach to sharp, lean and insightful strategy. His combination of brand and CX experience in both senior agency and consultancy roles is unique. Anyone who knows Ken will also know he is just a lovely guy too. We couldn’t be more pleased to have him joining HERO.”

Says Chan: “It’s an exciting time to be joining a rapidly growing independent agency like HERO. The HERO ethos, client partnerships and calibre of talent has resulted in some amazing work – and I’m looking forward to (hopefully) adding some value on the strategy front. They’re a talented crew at HERO and it’s an exciting time to be joining the team.”
