Bestads Best TV of the Week: Beefeater Gin’s ‘Virtual Insanity’ via Lucky Generals
Each week Bestadsontv.com [the global arm of Campaign Brief] showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by a top international creative director or team. This week’s best film is Beefeater Gin’s ‘Virtual Insanity’ via Lucky Generals.
The film was selected by this week’s guest judge Karla Calheiros, Creative Director at VML Czechia.
Says Calheiros: “Thirty years later, we finally find out what Jay Kay has been reaching for all this time: a bottle of gin. It’s a great idea, but the film itself is also beautifully done. The choreography, the sets, the way the world keeps getting bigger. And it fits the 0.0 proposition perfectly: you can keep going and see where the night takes you.”
Beefeater 0.0, the alcohol-free expression of the gin, has teamed up with Jamiroquai to mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s iconic 1996 “Virtual Insanity” video. Created by Lucky Generals, the campaign sees frontman Jay Kay revisit the video’s famous gravity-defying “moving room” set, recreating the celebrated “reach and slide” moment – only this time revealing what he was reaching for all along: a bottle of Beefeater 0.0. Launching in Spain and Italy, the campaign spans film, social, OOH and an influencer-driven content push.
