Bestads Best of the Week Reviewed by Diana Triana, CCO, Dentsu Creative, Colombia

Each week Bestadsontv.com [the global arm of Campaign Brief] picks the very best advertising in the world, in every medium – which is reviewed by a top creative director or team to select their own personal favourites.

This week’s guest judge is Diana Triana, former Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Creative Colombia, who is soon to launch an independent creative studio.

BEST TV
Winner: Telstra ‘Villains – Supreme Leader‘. This is one of those campaigns that leaves you wanting to see more. It’s beautifully made. What great cinematography. Great acting. Great art direction. Just look at that spaceship. The curly-haired man with the robot face. The little blue guys. The soldiers with their heads in their stomachs. And His Excellency, who bears a slight resemblance to the very soldier he exploits himself.

This commercial could have been a comic book, a movie, or a Netflix series. And people would watch the whole thing and share it on social media. Too bad I’m not “Oostralian” so I could see more references from this saga.

Runner-up: Apoteket ‘Make Menopause Less Hellish‘. Here, emotion won over logic. I loved the protagonist’s performance, and I could relate to every single vignette. I also feel like sometimes people “snap” as if they were speaking through a megaphone, that people are talking to me in another language, and sometimes I even look in the mirror and see the face of a grumpy old man who definitely isn’t me.

I had no idea I was perimenopausal until I saw this commercial. Thanks for the update.

BEST PRINT
No winner or runner-up.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Burnet Institute + Hepatitis B Voices ‘You Can’t Get Hep B‘. It’s an idea that is as simple as it is clever. The design is spot-on. I love the choice of color, the typography, and how simple and direct the copy is.

In fact, I would be delighted to come across this in a museum. Or in an Australian restaurant.

It’s one of those ideas that sits somewhere between design, advertising, and contemporary art. It corrects a myth without preaching, while fighting exclusion in an ironically clever way. And that’s why I think it deserves to be celebrated.

Runner-up: Autoworld Brussels ‘The Moving Museum‘. Some time ago, I met a Thai artist who believed that art should be something people could touch, experience, and manipulate. She painted her artworks onto tableware and then gave the pieces to her mother so she could actually serve lunch on them.

That’s exactly why I like this idea. It takes cars that are untouchable and out of reach inside a museum and invites people to get inside them and experience them like any ordinary person.

This week’s guest judge is Diana Triana, former Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Creative Colombia, who is soon to launch an independent creative studio.

Diana is a Colombian Chief Creative Officer with more than 20 years of experience in the advertising industry. Along the way, she has also had the opportunity to work as a professor, speaker, and juror at some of the world’s leading creative festivals.

Throughout her career, Diana has been recognized as a “Brand Pioneer” and “High Potential Talent,” but she has always believed that titles are less interesting than what people build together.

Her work has been recognized with Cannes Lions, Effie, London International Awards, Clio, D&AD, El Sol, El Ojo de Iberoamerica, El Dorado, and Colombia’s first Glass Lion for the campaign “Breastfeeding Mannequins,” which promoted the freedom to breastfeed. Still, the award she remembers most fondly was Mofilm Cannes U12, which gave her the opportunity to travel the world creating documentaries about children as part of OMO’s global “Dirt Is Good” platform.

She was also one of the lead creators behind some of the most inclusive campaigns developed by a bank, from promoting the acceptance of same-sex couples to bringing women’s football into football-related communications. Perhaps the latter mattered a little more because she is a football fan – although, by her own admission, she plays terribly.

In 2016, Diana was recognized as a Woman to Watch in Colombia, and shortly afterward, she was selected from more than 500 creatives to join Cannes Lions’ See It Be It program, an initiative created to increase female leadership within creative departments.

At the end of 2019, Diana was appointed Chief Creative Officer of McCann Colombia, where she helped strengthen the agency’s creative profile and industry recognition through work awarded at Effie and The One Show, while contributing to positioning the office among the country’s leading creative agencies. Two years later, she was appointed Co-President of the Creative Leadership Council for McCann Latin America.

In 2024, Diana became Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Creative Colombia, exploring the intersection of creativity, technology, and innovation.

Now, in 2026, she is launching an independent creative studio with her partners, Jaime Perea and Lucho Correa – one you’ll be hearing more about very soon.
