Bella Hayes and Millie Clout’s Cannes Diary #1
Bella Hayes (left) and Millie Clout (right), PR executive and PR manager at Howatson+Company are competing in the PR category of the Cannes Young Lions competition. The pair write exclusively for CB.
We arrived in Cannes on Saturday afternoon and are absolutely loving it but feeling ultimately less cool with each new person we meet. Speaking of cool people – can anyone help a couple of gals out with some Spotify passes?
With so many amazing things to recap, we decided to cut things down and diarise in the form of a highlights list… of the best and the worst beverages.
#1 Rosé at the Carlton
Despite the only recommendation we came here with being from our colleague, Ernie Ciaschetti, to hit up the Maccas down the road from where we’re staying, we headed straight to the Carlton for a rosé. It was a really humbling experience. A glass of Minuty was just what we needed after the 24 hours of flying from Sydney.
#2 Green juice at Meta Beach
Refreshing as hell, just what you need in the heat here… and free.
#3 Campaign Brief Welcome Drinks
Finished off day one with the Campaign Brief Welcome Drinks, meeting loads of Aussies and Kiwis here for the week.
#4 Lifesaving water on the Terrace
We cannot stress this enough… it’s hot here. We listened to a panel of creative legends talk on their roles and experience – Mo Said, of Mojo Supermarket, Erica Roberts, CCO at BBH USA and Pepe Marais from Joe Public – out at the Palais Terrace Stage. It’s outside, and we got stuck in the sun. Water is your friend here.
#5 Coffee
Last on the list. It’s awful here. Best coffee is at Meta Beach, and again, it’s free.
Highlights:
LOUIS FKN THEROUX.
Halle Berry talking on vaginas.
Mo Said walked out in pants saying ‘Howdy Friends’. He and his pants are very, very cool.
Ok, we’re off to get tattoos at the Pinterest ‘Manifestival’.
