Award-winning production company, Hype Republic, has helped Parkway Drive top the Australian album charts, bringing the band’s epic visuals and identity to life in the lead up to the album launch. The band called upon ARIA award-winning directors Allan Hardy and James Chappell to help creatively bring their massive ideas to life ahead of their album launch in early September.

Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall said behind everything the band does, they try to leap between imagination and creation.

“From the first spark, to the final explosion, Hype Republic has been essential in this process for us. Their drive to to constantly push the boundaries, their professional commitment and work ethos has enabled us to create music videos that take every element of our wild imaginations and bring them to life,” he said.

Hype Republic has a long-standing relationship with the band, which has involved end-to-end music video production, strategic merchandise range development, behind the scenes documentary content and creative direction support.

“Over the past four years we’ve been lucky enough to help Parkway Drive create award-winning music videos, Netflix worthy documentaries and now a record-breaking merchandise range,” Hype Republic Director Allan Hardy said.

“As a self-managed and self-made global headliner, the band love to push their creative boundaries, and our team at Hype Republic provide the production expertise to bring their vision to life.”

Hype Republic is recognised as a leader in the entertainment production industry, with a powerhouse team led by experienced directors Macario De Souza and Allan Hardy.

The team was behind the ACS award-winning music video Parkway Drive’s The Void in 2018, followed by their huge feature documentary on the band, Viva The Underdogs, which had a successful global cinema release and is now available on Netflix.

Hype Republic’s General Manager, Cam Pianta, said working with Parkway Drive has been a business highlight.

“It’s been an incredible opportunity to work with a band as forward thinking and progressive as Parkway drive. They truly ensure that the personality of the band and its members is intertwined throughout all aspects of their world,” he said.

Parkway Drive’s seventh studio album launch comes as Parkway Drive’s popular single Glitch reaches over 2.4 million video views.

The epic concept was imagined by Parkway Drive front-man Winston and then evolved and brought to life by Hype Republic’s Allan Hardy and Josh Weier.

“They are a genuine team, with world class talent and a personal commitment to the art they care about,” Winston said.

The music video for Glitch encompasses a layered mix of live action and intensive 3D VFX. It involved a team of over 13 VFX artists completing over 50 shots that were spread across three unique visual worlds.

The mammoth set included a 20 x 20 metre infinity pool complete with submerged pyrotechnics for the band to perform in.

The second single The Greatest Fear has crossed 2.3 million video views and was also developed from an idea Winston had with input from Hype Creative Director Josh Weier and Director James Chappell.

Studio scenes were shot in Brisbane featuring a custom-made throne and a range of actors, whilst a production road trip took the crew to scenic locations across NSW to capture sand dunes, cotton fields, forests and the ocean.

“The two singles required us to film in many different locations across Australia. From cotton farms to large studio set builds, these music videos had us travelling all over the country to deliver something really unique and inspiring,” Josh Weier, Creative Director at Hype Republic said.

Parkway Drive is hitting new heights, with huge sold-out shows on their European Tour, providing the soundtrack to the Fox Footy NRL finals broadcast, going #1 on the ARIA charts, plus an epic album roll-out including secret shows, pop-up stores, huge marketing campaign and global editorial coverage.
