Award-winning New York director Bruce Hurwit moves to Sydney to join The Feds

Picture 858.pngBruce Hurwit, who made his rep as the creator and director of award-winning spots for Little Caesars when at Cliff Freeman & Partners, New York in the 80s and 90s, has moved to Sydney to join The Feds.

No stranger to Australia, Hurwit has worked for both Sydney and Melbourne agencies directing campaigns for Carlton Cold and Twisties and is currently directing a spot for Uncle Toby’s via McCann’s, Sydney.

Hurwit started his career in NYC as an art director at BBDO and Cliff Freeman & Partners. As a creative director and film director, his award winning work for Little Caesars catapulted him into the inner circle of directors producing dialogue based, situational comedy.

“Casting is my strength,” says Hurwit. “I enjoy casting people thatbring some truth to their role”. Hurwit is skilled working with improvactors and well-known actors such as Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry,Rick Moranis, Michael Caton, Sarah Paulson, Joel McHale and Rob Coudryas well as many sport and music celebrities.

After years of working on commercials with global clients at CrossroadsFilms NY, LA and London, Hurwit extended his repertoire to include filmdirecting and executive producing with Cartoon Network’s firstlive-action/animation mixed movie, ‘Re-Animated’. The film was sosuccessful that Cartoon Network bought 20 episodes. Bruce directed andproduced ‘Split the Difference’, a sitcom about the forces ofmediocrity and desperation in advertising. It won the New York TVFestival and was picked up by NBC.

Hurwit has been awarded by The Museum of Modern Art, NY where hisLittle Caesars spots remain in their permanent collection. In 2006,Bruce’s Little Caesar’s spot, ‘Focus Group’, was named one of the 10best spots of the past 20 years by Creativity Magazine. Hurwit’s otherindustry awards include numerous Cannes Lions, Clios, AICP awards, aswell as many others worldwide.
