Australia’s Tom Noakes awarded $25k for Doritos ‘Finger Cleaner’ spot in Super Bowl competition
Australia’s Tom Noakes has been awarded a $25,000 (US) cash prize as a finalist in the Doritos Crash The Super Bowl competition for his ‘Finger Cleaner’ spot.
The two winning ads that aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII broadcast were ‘Time Machine’ by Ryan Andersen, Scottsdale, Arizona, United States and ‘Cowboy Kid’ by Amber Gill, Ladera Ranch, California, United States.
This was the first year that fans from all over the world where Doritos Chips are sold had the opportunity to enter the long-standing competition. Attracting more than 5,400 submissions from 30 countries, Noakes’ ad made it to the top five, the first and only international entrant to make it to this stage.
An online favourite, Noakes’ ad, ‘Finger Cleaner’, has racked up over 3 million views on YouTube and gained media attention from around the world.
In addition to the $25,000 (US) prize, Noakes was awarded an all-expenses paid trip to New York to watch the Super Bowl, his first-ever NFL game.
Says Jenni Dill, marketing director PepsiCo ANZ: “This is a huge achievement for an Aussie filmmaker to have made it to the finals of the global Crash The Super Bowl competition. We are incredibly proud of Tom’s success and thankful to his fans in Australia and around the world who voted for Finger Cleaner.”

Robbed. Finger cleaner was so clearly the best of the finalists.
He was robbed.
His ad was easily better than the two they aired.
Finger Cleaner would have won, except the content a bit too racy for our US friends?
Awesome work Tom! Finger cleaner was by far my genuine favourite. Although I guess it didn’t have the obligatory kid or dog that voters fetishise over. Regardless, congrats
Yep Tom’s Finger Cleaner should have taken it home, check out VICE –

finger cleaner was clearly the best, the ones that aired were pretty lame.
How could an Aussie win amongst that slew of Americana crap.
i’m pretty sure all the focus groups were right in picking the one they picked. definitely. we need more focus groups.
