Australia’s Cannes Lions entries hit five-year low despite strong shortlist rate
Australia submitted 444 entries to the 2026 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity – the country’s lowest entry volume in five years, down 28% on 2025’s 618 and well off the 786 entries submitted at the 2023 peak.
Despite the drop in volume, Australian work continued to punch above its weight relative to entries submitted. The country landed 52 shortlists, an 11.7% shortlist rate that ran ahead of this year’s 10.4% global average.
However, Australia took home only seven Lions in total, a 1.6% win rate against entries — well below the 3.2% global average Lions-per-entry conversion rate.
Australia’s Cannes Lions entries, 2022–2026:
2022: 693
2023: 786
2024: 661
2025: 618
