Australia scores three finalists in the shortlist stage of D&AD Impact and Future Impact Awards

Australia has secured two finalists in the D&AD Impact Awards and one in the D&AD Future Impact category.

FINCH with Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has been shortlisted for Mars Inc ‘The Lion’s Share‘ and Republic of Everyone has been shortlisted for The Sendle Challenge.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Australian and New Zealand production company FINCH, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and founding partner Mars launched ‘The Lion’s Share’ initiative, which is aimed at transforming the lives of animals across the world by asking advertisers to contribute a percentage of their media spend to conservation and animal welfare projects. The initiative sees partners contribute 0.5 percent of their media spend to the fund for each advertisement they use featuring an animal. Those funds will be used to support animals and their habitats around the world. Mars is the first advertising partner in The Lion’s Share.

Sendle, via Republic of Everyone, is Australia’s first 100 per cent carbon neutral delivery service and a certified B Corporation. Each year 841 millions are delivered across Australia, putting around 102 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Sendle has delivered 100% carbon neutral since its launch in 2014. That means the company reduces its impact by offsetting emissions (supporting carbon offset projects around the world). But in Australia, the largest delivery company, Australia Post, doesn’t deliver 100% carbon neutral. So Sendle challenged them to go carbon neutral, now.

They reinterpreted their hallmark device – showcasing our native wildlife – to illustrate their impact on our environment, and created the Sendle sticker, designed to make people stop and think about the true impact of delivery on the planet; a sticker that anyone can put on an Australia Post parcel in order to have Sendle carbon offset it – and in doing so send a message to Australia Post that the people of Australia want them to go carbon neutral now.

The community were right with them, Sendle offset 1,428,600 parcels for AusPost, and after only 18 days of campaigning, Australia Post announced that they would deliver carbon neutral too – by offsetting almost every one of their parcels themselves. That means millions tonnes of their CO2 will be offset from now on. Little stickers. Big impact.

The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology was shortlisted in the D&AD Future Impact category for its ‘Reclaiming Accessibility To Lower-limb Prosthetics‘ work.

D&AD exists to recognise creative ideas that are driving positive change. It does so by elevating purposeful products, initiatives and campaigns; by accelerating projects with the potential for impact through a 12-month Future Impact programme; and by educating brands and entrepreneurs on incorporating purpose into their business strategy.

D&AD Future Impact winners will be announced on 23 October 2019, with Impact winners revealed at the Impact Showcase on 6 November, New York.
