Amanda Fuller’s Cannes Diary #3: A two-hour Grand Prix debate and an elated finish

Amanda Fuller, Managing Partner, Omnicom Health Oceania, is representing Australia on the Cannes Health & Wellness jury. As her jury’s deliberations conclude in the South of France, Fuller shares her insights from the final day in the room, exclusive to CB.

Day 3

Today was momentous for the jury. We have finished with clarity and conviction that the work we have awarded is the best of the best in Health + Wellness for Cannes.

As a team we worked together so well and diligently held up each entry to either elevate or award a bronze and given the long day and much debate yesterday we had an easier time today. Time keeping and a policy of not going over old ground helped us. The largest discussion, lasting 2 hours was who to award the Grand Prix too. Honestly this was unbelievably difficult with 3 contenders and 2 entries we could not split in terms of what the work would mean to our industry as the entry above all others.

Kainaz, our President, laid down her vision for what she felt excellence in Health + Wellness meant and we all agreed and reviewed the work in this light – this assisted us and ultimately we awarded the Grand Prix.

We left feeling elated. Our shortlist (click here to see) and the metal’d entries are truly outstanding. We feel this is work clients and agencies can review, discuss, admire and hold up as excellence to lift the industry up.

I leave this jury room with a much higher appreciation for all the work awarded through the process – if you are shortlisted and beyond be proud because this is a huge achievement! And with many new life-long friends from the Jury and the Cannes organisers. Stay tuned for the awards announcement tonight!
