Amanda Fuller’s Cannes Diary #2: Snacks, scrutiny and a late night of voting
Amanda Fuller, Managing Partner, Omnicom Health Oceania, is representing Australia on the Cannes Health & Wellness jury. As judging continues, Fuller shares her insights from day two inside the jury room, exclusive to CB.
Day 2
Firstly, apologies for the photos of snacks! Today was a day of intense focus and we barely left the room so the snacks are significant (and contributed by the jury from their home countries!).
Day 2 is about progressing work to be awarded. It was an energising day full of debate and discussion and definitely some tense moments. We all had the opportunity to speak of several entries we definitely wanted to process and discuss their merits and I must say on the whole our jury was mostly in agreement. But forensically going through the cases brought up some very interesting points and changed the view on some pieces of work. I would say to those entering, the results matter, are discussed at length and if there is a data nuance that doesn’t add up, there is a good chance the credibility of the work will be in doubt.
With only so few spots and so many worthy entries it was not easy and we were still debating at 10:30pm and voting and re-voting. Delirium started to set in when the air conditioning turned off (a sure sign to make our final decisions)!
We worked as a team even when tension was high and are leaving the day feeling good about the work and our job tomorrow.
