After three years Supermassive co-founder Simone Gupta departs for next chapter

Simone Gupta (left) has departed independent agency Supermassive, the business she co-founded alongside Laura Aldington (right) and Jon Austin (centre), to pursue her next chapter.

Gupta, Aldington and Austin launched Supermassive in June 2023 after leaving Havas, where Aldington and Austin held the CEO and Executive Creative Director roles respectively at Host/Havas, and Gupta served as CEO of Havas PR. The agency was built around a focus on non-traditional advertising and earned media, with the founders describing their approach as creating ideas that “entertain more than interrupt”. At launch, Supermassive was noted as one of Australia’s first majority female-founded creative agencies.

Since then, the agency’s work has the agency’s work has included The Lifetime of Greatness Project for Tourism Tropical North Queensland, a global campaign rallying support for the Great Barrier Reef to be recognised with the United Nations Environment Programme’s Champions of the Earth award, and Futures, a rehabilitative hip hop radio station created with Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) for young people in juvenile detention. The agency also partnered with production company FINCH on the multi-award-winning 36 Months initiative, a social change campaign advocating to raise Australia’s minimum social media age from 13 to 16. The project picked up a Silver Lion for PR Effectiveness and was shortlisted for the Dan Wieden Titanium Lion at Cannes Lions 2025.

Says Austin and Aldington: “After three fantastic years helping us build Supermassive, Sim has made the decision to depart the agency and head into a new chapter. We’re so grateful to her for the incredible rollercoaster we’ve all shared. Whilst we’ve got some exciting plans for the future of the business which we’ll share soon, we want to make today a moment to focus on thanking Sim for everything, sending her Supermassive hugs, and wishing her every success in her next adventure.”

Says Gupta: “It’s been three successful years at Supermassive, but I’ve decided it’s time to focus on my next chapter. I’m proud of what we’ve built and achieved, and super grateful to the amazing team, our wonderful clients, our partners, and collaborators, and to Laura and Jon. Thanks for the trust, hard work, and support along the way.”
