After 29 years at BBDO, Jim Moser quits the network to return to Australia

Jim Moser, the former Clemenger BBDO Sydney CEO, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne chairman / Clemenger BBDO NZ CEO, most recently chairman of BBDO Europe, is set to return to Australia for a yet to be announced new phase in his illustrious career. Moser announced the news on his LinkedIn page this morning:

It’s a BIG day for me. After 29+ years at BBDO, I’m leaving the agency. The above PR photos over time tell a great story of my life and career. I have loved my time at BBDO – from Poland, to Italy, to Australia, to New Zealand, and most recently, to the United Kingdom/Europe. What an incredible career and opportunity for me and my family, to travel the world and experience so many special places and so many talented people. I’ve been fortunate, very fortunate.

I am NOT retiring. I’m too young and I have too much energy to stop contributing. There is so much more I plan and want to do, but not in a large full time corporate role. As much as I have loved these roles for the past few decades, it is time to do something different and to challenge myself again. I have a lot of ideas and a few interesting options, but for now, I’ll take some time off and then plot a course for the future. To begin, we plan to relocate back to Australia.

There have been many people that have influenced and guided my BBDO career since 1994. They include Allen Rosenshine, David Wheldon, Jean-Michel Goudard (RIP), Robert Morgan, and Andrew Robertson. A very special thank you to Allen Rosenshine who first recognised my potential and guided my career until I landed my most recent role as Chairman, BBDO Europe. And a second special thank you to Robert Morgan who hired me to run Clemenger BBDO Sydney starting in 1999 and kept giving me challenge after challenge until I left in late 2018. Peter Clemenger and Hylton Mackley were also influential in my career and success at Clemenger. My sincere thanks to all of you (and others) who kept challenging me with new roles, supported me unconditionally, and always valued me and my contribution.

There are so many talented people that I have worked with over the past 29 years at BBDO. All of them have positively influenced me and my career, and I hope, I have in some way returned the favour. Being grateful is the definition of happiness, and I am eternally grateful for the last 29 years. Thank you BBDO.
