The 8th annual Musicians Making A Difference Day (MMAD Day) on Friday 14 October 2022 was a ground breaking success and helped connect 17,000 young people at risk with the charity.

With over 225,487 Australian children suspected of being harmed or at risk of harm from abuse and/or neglect each year, 27,680 young people homeless on any given night and suicide still the leading cause of death for those aged 15-25, Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) and this industry-led campaign is critical in supporting young people to realise their potential and find their place in the world.

MMAD Day was felt across the nation with takeovers on airwaves, out of home ads and rock posters featured across city streets and digital spaces, industry heavyweights celebrating with workplace events, and both global and local artists dedicating heartfelt messages of support.

Ian Kenny (Birds of Tokyo) in his heartfelt video message and caption in support of the cause said: “Big shoutout to Musicians Making A Difference, it’s a great youth charity wishing to transform young lives through this beautiful world of music… If you’re out there having a tough time, just know you’re loved and you’re not alone.”

The national campaign reached 20 million people, and over 17,000 young people across the country have connected with the charity’s support channels; including a free national creative youth wellbeing platform, street support groups, crisis casework, expressive therapy programs and a music soup kitchen.

MMAD’s founder Dominic Brook expressed his gratitude for all those who supported the day: “Without the backing of our incredible partners, our work through the charity would not be possible. We’re honoured to make such a huge difference alongside Universal Music Australia, ARN, iHeart, CADA, UnLtd, Pedestrian, Yahoo, Paramount, MTV, Sony Music, Sony Foundation, Rock Posters, Twitter, Spotify, Bravado, Kaimera, Nine Entertainment Co, Seven West Media, Val Morgan, Southern Cross Austereo, oOh! Media, SCA, Kargo, JCDecaux, Gumtree Media, Motio, News Corp, QMS & more.”
