AADC’s She Creates to discuss concept of value in ‘The Value Shift’ event on March 30th

With staff retention an increasingly hot topic, how do organisations provide value for their teams? With clients looking for value adds wherever they can, how do businesses put their best foot forward? With more employers looking to hire people that contribute to their culture, how can people in the industry best demonstrate their own value in the hiring process?

Value for money. Value pricing. Value propositions. The value of a project. Company values. Value — it’s a word thrown around so often you could easily mistake it for the latest buzzword.

Enter She Create’s The Value Shift event— an opportunity to reflect and dissect what value looks like in 2023, for clients, customers and the workplace cultures, taking place on Thursday March 30, 6pm til 9pm at Jackson Square, 57 Manton Street, Hindmarsh, Adelaide.

The topic is both timely and fundamental.

Says Dena Vassallo, co-chair at She Creates, who heads up the organisation in partnership with Amy Lambert: “At the end of the day, as people serving the creative community, if we don’t understand the values we want to shine and the value we want people to get from our work, what are we doing?

“It’s something to really reflect on this year. With a recession looming, it’s topical and you would be remiss not to be thinking about what value means for yourself, for teams and for clients.”

Launched in late 2019, She Creates is an initiative of the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club (AADC) — inspiring, promoting, connecting and representing the women within Adelaide’s creative communications industry.

With (quite a few) bumps along the way thanks to covid, The Value Shift will be its first major and more formal event in 18 months. Regular, smaller events like Wine & Design, In Conversation With and the Netwalk series have brought women from all levels of Adelaide’s creative community together within an intimate, unintimidating setting.

While there will be more faces in the room this time round, participants are promised this event will have the same fun and welcoming feeling that She Creates is known for.

Says Vassallo: “We’ve learned a lot about the importance of having different events that are intimate. We’re really excited to get the whole community back together… now is really the time.”

Presented by major sponsor Peach, the event is taking place in the evening on March 30th at the new warehouse turned vibrant function space Jackson Square. Guests will enjoy a sit down dinner, gin bar by 23rd Street Distillery, opportunities to connect with others in the industry, and a program of speakers examining multi-layered ideas about value alongside the dinner.

The speakers for the event have been intentionally chosen to examine concepts of value from multiple angles.

Says Vassallo: “We wanted different perspectives, different years in the industry, people in different parts of the industry who look at it with different lenses.

“The concept of value is so dynamic and agile. There’s so many different dimensions we can tease out into a really good conversation.”

The line-up includes managing director of Carat, Vikki Friscic – who is set to take on the MD role at Channel 7 in April; director of marketing operations at the University of Adelaide, Bev Bury; and Tracy Davidson, recruitment manager for Rising Sun Pictures.

With experience spanning across various industries and roles the women will deep dive into the topic, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise on business, leadership and providing value in the current landscape.

The event will kick off the She Creates event calendar for 2023 with a bang. With their next event already in the works, this year is set to be their best yet.
