CHE Proximity tops AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list in media and marketing; Special Group ranks #2; PHD ranks #3; M&C Saatchi at #4

The AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list has been released and the results are in with CHE Proximity topping the rankings of the 10 most innovative media and marketing companies.
The list recognises the most innovative organisations in Australia and New Zealand, as judged by the expert panel assembled by The Australian Financial Review and Inventium.
In 2020, the list has been split into 10 industry-specific categories.
These are the top 10 innovations in the Media and Marketing category:
1. CHE Proximity – Curing Homesickness
2. Special Group – The Uber Eats Australian Open Ambush
3. PHD – Future You – The collectable card game that teaches children about STEM
4. M&C Saatchi – Save This
5. TRA – COVID-19 Data Visualisation Tool
6. DigitalMAAS – DigitalMaas Platform
7. Momentum Media – THE BALLROOM
8. Thinkerbell – The Purple Hive Project
9. AKQA – Code of Conscience
10. FINCH – Creatable
Says Ant White (pictured above), chief creative officer, CHE Proximity: “It’s great Nicola, Lisa and the team are being recognised for the work they are doing to get kids home from hospital sooner, especially now as we rollout this platform across the country, and invite more brands to adopt the Curing Homesickness icon.”
Says Lindsey Evans, founding partner and CEO, Special Group: “Being on this list really confirms our belief that innovation comes from not from size of your agency but the scale of your ambition (and having great collaborators).”
Says Adam Ferrier, co-founder, Thinkerbell: “We are extremely proud to be involved in Purple Hive. The agency developed the idea built off B Honey’s platform ‘It all starts with a bee’, with a purpose to help protect the bee population in Australia. It’s attracted a lot of attention from the likes of National Geographic, Agriculture Victoria and ABC’s Landline. However, more importantly, it’s helping to sell B Honey, as well as literally helping protect Australia’s bee population. It’s been terrific working on this with the folks at Bega on this project.”
A major achievement for FINCH is being the only film production company recognised in the list.
Says Rob Galluzzo, CEO, FINCH: “The world could use more imagination and compassion. FINCH constantly attempts to impact culture through those two lenses.”

Was it M&C or M&N that did Save This?
Wow. What did they innovate? WhAt a joke?
Does anyone in their right mind really think that the most innovative companies in Australia are advertising agencies? Spare me.
“We are currently discussing the future home of our very first ‘Purple Hive’ and look forward to updating you soon!”
Translation: Once award season is over, you’ll never hear of it again.
Mumz Sauce and purple hive are kidding themselves. Clearly ‘innovation’ for award sake. It’s amazing how quickly Thinkerbell became the new CHE just doing it for case studies.
Boss magazine, says it all!
Looks like we found another place to get false recognition for our most scammy work, let’s go to lunch!
who made the sauce?
Well done on the AFR for realising Ad people will enter just about anything at any price. Keep adding more categories and we dumb f*$kers will enter everything. You’ll make a fortune.
And a big congrats to CHEP for somehow finding the money to enter awards despite losing 35+ people and asking others to take a pay cut. You are true winners!
I am quite happy for our Software platform to be on the list, We have been building our local marketing platform for 7 years and its great to finally have it in the market and gaining some recognition! We are a tech SAAS Startup and I can assure you our technology is innovative. Our innovations are world first and being purchased in over 62 countries.
Thanks for sharing, We are proud to have scored a place on the list.
