Handsome young men! Congrats.
When did agencies take ownership of the title ‘Executive Producer’? For decades that title was retained to accurately describe someone who owns or runs a film production company. It just doesn’t reflect the role and responsibility and would appear a misnomer.
You sound old………
I guess 40 is old these days in advertising. But at least I have learnt humility and respect.
Excellent hires! Well done 72
Bone.
Executive Producer oversee all stages of production on the jobs they themselves work and producers within their department, thus the title executive. They manage their Clients money covering video, post and audio. I use the word video, as we have not shot of film for some years.
The executive producer generally contributes to the projects budget so technically the client could be an EP too.
They also manage the EP’s from production companies who tend to lunch a lot in the hope of obtaining more work for their company, pop into set and post at lunch time and generally run their business.
So no, Production Company producers are not the only EP’s in the industry. Myself, personally I have always just called myself a producer, regardless of position.
Well done Greg and deserved.
You guys are too nice.xxxx
Mark Wahlberg’s my favourite Executive Producer
Hires to the left of me. Hires to the right. Here I am, back in the middle with you. By which I mean me. B’cos it’s always about me.
Sorry…you are completely wrong. The term derives from the U, and is used in features. The title is reserved for people who oversee the funding of the project. It was appropriated in the early 2000’s by some commercial producers who at the time were working between features and tvc’s.
To say an agency ‘Head of production’ is an Executive producer is just not correct.
Nothing against Greg…he is probably a great producer – but E.P is the wrong title.
…..The title is reserved for people who oversee the funding of the project.
In commercial production who oversees the funding of the project and gets your estimates approved?
Distractions from the article over stupid titles.
Dr Carbone is the strongest creature imaginable
Its the client who oversees the funding of the project….(big difference to someone running and managing a budget)
Can you executive producers all piss off and get your own blog
Congrats Mr Fyson. A gentleman and a gentleman. Well played 72.
Go you lovely man!
Meh
Love those boys! Great hire!
I love these men more than advertising itself.
The Bone and the ninja. Good combo
