25 creative powerhouses show their deference for difference in MADC Showcase launch film

With early bird entries for the MADC 2024 Creative Showcase closing next Monday, 8 April, the MADC has teamed up with no fewer than 25 creative powerhouses, production companies, photographers, animators, designers and artists to showcase the power of different people coming together to make different work.

Says Matt Lawson and Simon Thomas, co-presidents of the MADC: “We wanted to illustrate this year’s platform, Deference for Difference, so we put a call out to many of our favourite collaborators, across Melbourne and beyond, with each given one line of VO as their brief. We are so thankful for the love they’ve poured into it, and proud to see this ode to oddness come together. And perhaps even a little surprised it did, in its own way. Sincere thanks to all the volunteering contributors who joined us on this experiment to showcase the power of doing things differently.”

Says Victoria Conners, director of MADC Creative Showcase: “As the film steps out, it’s the different work that really works. And so we’re encouraging all to enter now to be celebrated on another night that’s sure to be weird and wonderful in its own right.”

Entries for the showcase are still open across all categories, with a special early bird price ending April 8 (no extensions) and late fee entries accepted until April 19.
