New marketing agency THE MODERNISTS founded by two former entertainment executives aims to challenge the fragmented landscape
Former Marketing Director of Village Roadshow, Toya Worsley, and former Senior Marketing Manager at NBC Universal, Village Roadshow, Bauer Media Stacie Beeksma have co-founded and launched a full-service independent marketing agency and consultancy called THE MODERNISTS, based in Sydney.
“Drawing on years of client-side experience working with the world’s largest media and entertainment brands led us here after searching for an agency that could challenge the status quo with inspired marketing solutions with the bigger picture in mind. We never found that agency, so we created one,” says CEO Toya Worsley.
THE MODERNISTS is a full-service marketing agency experienced in entertainment, lifestyle, wellness, leisure, retail and hospitality sectors. Fusing business strategy and insights along with creative thinking to deliver inspired and effective solutions, whilst challenging the fragmented agency landscape through consolidation of essential marketing services.
THE MODERNISTS consists of an expert team of highly regarded specialists across brand and product strategy, PR, media (paid, owned and earned), activations, events, partnerships, creative and design. The agency is heavily focused on attracting the best talent by supporting inclusiveness and wellness. Recognising the right team for each project is of paramount importance – THE MODERNISTS agile structure allows them to adjust for scale, industry or specialist requirements dependent upon client and project.
Originally founded in 2018 THE MODERNISTS is gaining considerable traction with high-profile clients looking to leverage the team’s experience operating at speed within disrupted industries and 2019 is looking to be the year to cement themselves amongst the big players.
Recently with the ANZ and Singapore launch of new Entertainment Streaming Service iwonder, THE MODERNISTS were appointed as the agency of choice and has handled the go-to-market strategy, paid media, creative and content development, public relations and partnerships. With the integrated output underscoring their full-service offering.
“At THE MODERNISTS we value collaboration above all else. We will act as an extension of your team, to achieve connected thinking and ultimately deliver better outcomes for your business, brand &/or product. This is what makes us unique,” says managing director Stacie Beeksma.

if i’ll ever hear of this again
most spiders have 8 eyes.
Good luck and congratulations, Toya and Stacie. Don’t compromise on your payment terms, and make sure you make time to chat about things other than work. Then you’ll be well placed.
I don’t know either of these ladies but am amazed that you commenters have taken the time to say negative and stupid things about this news.
I just don’t understand why – other than it may help lift your mood from your pathetic existence, as I am pretty sure successful happy people do not do this.
It highlights my belief that a lot of people want to see people fail. It helps them deal with their own failures.
Girls, let this be the motivation to do well.
If it fails (whatever that is), you’ll learn stuff and know that at least you got off arse, took a risk and gave it a crack. Unlike most other people out there.
I think this is a great idea.
Most companies are too stretched to service their marketing departments properly, and sometimes not being in the building means you’re not part of the problem. You can view things objectively instead of worrying about which boss you need to please to get the campaign through.
Well done, hope it goes well.
So… another boutique agency offering the same service as literally every agency ever. Cool story.
