Brisbane-based duo Tom Kimmorley, art director at next Thursday and Emma Ziesemer, copywriter at Redsuit have been crowned winners of the prestigious Young Glory creative competition.
Featuring 300 teams from across the globe, Kimmorley and Ziesemer’s hard-fought win caps a marathon effort, with the competition comprising of eight rounds from September 2016 to April 2017.
The announcement was made last night in Montreal, where the pair have travelled to present their winning work at the worldwide C2 Conference, in front of 2000 people.
Says Kimmorley: “This competition was an incredible opportunity for Emma and I to not only test our creativity, but to push the boundaries and remind ourselves why we do what we do. To get our work in front of big-name creatives from all over the world is a huge privilege, and I’m eager to bring what I’ve learned to my work back in Brisbane. After a grueling eight months, we’re thrilled to have come out on top of the leaderboard and to continue the Young Glory legacy.”
Dan Adler, managing director of next Thursday, said that he was thrilled but not surprised by Kimmorley’s first place finish: “We’ve always thought of Tom as our secret weapon but now the cat is well and truly out of the bag.
“To have Tom’s creative prowess recognized on a global scale is not only exciting for us as his workmates, but it’s a huge win for our current and future clients to have him leading the charge as our art director.
“Brisbane may be a small place, but we clearly have some of the best creative minds in the world walking among us…one of whom is sitting right next to me.”
Australian creatives dominated the 2016-17 leaderboard, with five out of the top 10 teams hailing from down under.
