WWF and Google Creative Labs launch new VR experience + campaign via Republic of Everyone
This year’s WWF campaign via Republic of Everyone, to raise awareness about the plight of the Great Barrier Reef, ahead of the historic UNESCO decision over its protection, has just launched.
As a part of the campaign, Republic of Everyone teamed up with Google Creative Labs, Grumpy Sailor, Underwater Earth and Storyspheres to deliver an immersive virtual reality experience of the reef using Google cardboard goggles and a beta technology developed by Google Creative Labs and Grumpy Sailor.
People simply visit the reef.wwf.org.au/seeit on their smart phone, select the section of the reef they want to expereince, place their phone into the virtual reality reef goggles and take a virtual dive on the reef.
Once they have experienced the wonder of the reef they are then given the option to claim a piece of the reef to protect and become its ambassador.
For the first time ever people get to experience the reef from the comfort of their own home.

This is awesome guys…now when are you going to do one for us reef folk to experience the out of water world?

So simple.
Nice work guys.
Owning a patch of something has been done so many times!
Using VR tech is becoming old very quickly.
Just not fresh.
But if it helps make a difference to the reef then who cares about originality?!
