Clemenger BBDO’s ‘Remote Control Tourist’ and VML’s ‘Missing Persons Pre-Roll’ campaigns win at prestigious SXSW Interactive Awards
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne’s Remote Control Tourist campaign for Tourism Victoria and VML Australia’s ‘Missing Persons Pre-Roll’ campaign for the Australian Federal Police have won the Technical Achievement Award and the Activism Award respectively at the SXSW Interactive Awards in Austin, Texas.
The Technical Achievement category is for “Projects reinventing and redefining the technical parameters of our digital experience”. Remote Control Tourist beat some formidable competition, including a submission from NASA, a new barista-on-call project and a competition based around commercial and sustainable space flights.
Says Clemenger BBDO Melbourne ECD Ant Keogh: “The agency and the client both put their heart and soul into ‘Remote Control Tourist’ so I’m incredibly proud of the team’s achievement at a festival which celebrates the next generation of innovation. I’m gobsmacked – and incredibly humbled – that ‘Remote Control Tourist’ beat a submission from NASA.”

A huge congrats to the VML and GPY&R team also.
It’s fitting recognition of the very innovative work you guys are doing all over the place at the moment.
