The Monkeys ECD + partner Micah Walker departs agency after two years to fill role at W+K Portland
After two years at The Monkeys, executive creative director and partner Micah Walker (left) is moving back to the United States.
Walker joined The Monkeys in February 2012 after four years at Publicis Mojo in Sydney. He was also previously a creative partner at Fallon London, and now leaves to join Wieden+Kennedy Portland in January 2014.
Says Walker: “We’ve worked hard, and had a lot of fun over the past two years. We’ve made some work that I’m really proud of and I really believe the Monkeys is the most interesting agency in this country. We’re leaving behind some good friends, but this was just one opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
Says Justin Drape, co-founder/chief creative officer: “Anyone who’s worked with Micah knows he’s a unique talent. He has made his mark not just here at The Monkeys but on the industry as a whole. We’ve enjoyed working with him during the last couple of years and wish him and his family all the best in everything that lies ahead for them in Portland.”
Micah’s last day at The Monkeys is 20th December. There are currently no plans to replace Walker’s role as creative partner.

All the best amigo. Make cool shit.
Congrats! Safe trip and thanks for the inspiration.
Never worked with him but he seems to have the ability to get great work out wherever he goes. Back to the big leagues, and who wouldn’t want to live in Portland and work at W&K. Good luck.
That’s a great loss for the Australian industry.
Congrats Micah! We’ll miss you and your work.
Good luck mate. You’ll be missed.
Congratulations and all the best Micah, keep making the good stuff.
Good luck Micah, it was a pleasure knowing and working with you. May the road rise to meet you.
… but admired his work from afar
IMO Pure Waters is the best ad ever made in Australia.
yes a huge loss to Australia… but look forward to seeing the awesome stuff he’ll make in Portland
Massive loss.
Best ECD in the country at the moment, in my opinion.
