CB Exclusive – CB can reveal that Toby Talbot has resigned from the ECD role at RKCR/Y&R London after less than a year to return to New Zealand in March 2013.
Talbot joined the London agency in January this year from the group ECD role at DDB New Zealand.
Talbot told CB that his family homesick for NZ: “I can’t exactly commute from Auckland! Got some nice work away for the BBC and have several exciting projects to finish up in January and February but also focusing on an exciting opportunity in NZ. All will be revealed in new year.
“Planning to be home by March 2013. Can’t wait.”
Originally from the UK, Talbot had been in New Zealand for the previous fifteen years, working at Colenso BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB New Zealand.

That’s a lovely coat you’re wearing Toby.
My tip: ECD DDB Aia/Pacific, with an even greater roving brief if he wants it.
And why not? He’s a great talent and DDB wouldn’t want him working anywhere else.
Sorry Cochran, but it’s likely to be ECD of Colenso, taking over from Worthinas he goes to part-time hours.
Yep, another ‘homesick family’ as the default excuse for returning CDs/ECDs who couldn’t cut it in the big show and the bright lights of the UK, the States, et.al.
Transparent PR 101 for the returning hero, with tail between legs.
