Euro RSCG close to buying Host?

Campaign Brief believes that Euro RSCG is close to buying Sydney agency Host.
Host was started by CEO Anthony Freedman (pictured) in 2001.
Since then it has worked for a number of clients including Vodafone, Air New Zealand, BankWest, The Sun-Herald, BT Financial, Virgin Mobile and Yahoo.
Freedman said: “This industry is full of speculation about independent agencies being bought. In the last few weeks Host has been linked to Saatchi, Dentsu and now Euro. If we had something to announce be assured we would let you know.
Euro RSCG was not available for comment at the time of posting.

Another attack of the giant poo spoon?
A host with some flair?
Talk about completely different cultures.
One champions creativity.
The other is far too busy will internal politics to even give a toss about creativity.
(Not that it ever really was.)
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, Scaramouche,
will you do the Fandango
I heard Euro was buying Saatchis. More news to come…
Tragic.
You could have used a newer picture of him.
He’s lost about 10kg’s working out at the gym since that one.
I heard Van Halen were buying Kanye West.
For 10 years Anthony has taken risks, built a business, paid the salaries of untold staff and suppliers. If he wants to sell – good luck to him. Host and Anthony don’t exist to prop up the creative aspirations of oh-so-concerned bloggers. If you’re so concerned the level of creativity will plummet if Host sells, open your own shop and lets see how long you last. In my books 10 years is a great effort and who knows, if sold it just might grow and prosper for another 10 years under Anthony’s proven leadership. Good luck Anthony – and do whatever you feel’s best for you, your family and the business.
they’ll be quite a good match.
neither has one a creative award for about 3 years

—- Oh no He didn’t!!!
Will they lose The Glue Society – or are they stuck with them??
ouch, bad typo. it isn’t me it’s the keyboard.
true about the awards though Shaniqua. (are you the one from Backyardigans?)
Could turn into the Super Glue Society
Euro just hired an MD 2 weeks ago. they wouldn’t do that if they were about to buy another agency
Pssst….. McCanns to buy HOST. Pass it on.
The minute an agency is bought half it’s clients start thinking about leaving.
RE: 2:39 PM
Hey Anthony tell your wife to stop sticking up for you on the blog.
Anthony, for the love of God don’t do it. You guys are the only good thing left in this rubbish industry. Well, You, Glue and the Monkeys.
The minute an agency is bought half it’s STAFF start thinking about leaving.
Fixed that for you.
i’m still excited
lol…rofl

Is this the new way of letting networks know you’re interested in being bought out? Start a rumor on the blog saying you’re having ‘secret talks’?
Euro might be buying my push-bike, it’s rad to the power of sick and only 1300 dollars. Any takers, get in quick.
@ Locktite
I’m Rubber, you’re Glue. Everything you say bounces off of me and sticks on to you.
Merger and acquisition, what could be more boring, for all concerned?
What do you get when you buy an agency in an industry where client contracts are voided or put into review every day, creatives move from one shop to another like club kids on X, and no one even owns their own office building? Last year’s reputation? Value that in a negotiation.
It’s all chutes and ladders, masterbatory without the payload.
Zen, you da man! More please!
Anthony better hurry up and get his pay day soon else he may be in for a shock if he waits for a few more years and finds out then how little bigger companies will be prepared to fork out for his firm then when any semblance of ‘hotshop’ has gone. Truth is any sensible buyer will lock him in for ages anyway – so he’ll end up working just as hard , but for someone else.
not bad for a sweaty barrow boy – lovely !
11:44, totally agree.
host may have had a quiet couple of years on the big metal front by their standards, but they consistently churn out interesting stuff.
Buy Host? With what?
9.23pm- what interesting stuff have Host churned out in the last few years?
