JOUBERT_RET_RGB_LR-WEB.jpgSouth African expat David Joubert has been named creative director of GPY&R Sydney, the first in a series of planned moves that will see a further strengthening of the agency’s creative offering.

Joubert joined Patts in 2008 from South African creative powerhouse TBWA/Hunt Lascaris, following a three-year stint in Asia working across McDonalds, Tiger Beer, IBM and Standard Bank.

Says Patts Sydney executive creative director – and fellow South African expat – Julian Watt said Joubert’s elevation was a testament to the great contribution he had made to agency since transferring from the Brisbane office in May last year: “David is an exceptionally strong creative force with great local and global experience. He performed superbly in our Brisbane office, creating world-class work in a traditionally conservative market.”

In Brisbane, Joubert and joint creative director Piet Human – also from South Africa – won a swag of silver and gold at Brisbane Art Directors, ADMA, the AMI, Outdoor Advertising Association and a One Show finalist, significantly lifting the creative profile of the agency and its new business track record and culminating in the award of Australia’s only Design Lion at Cannes in 2010.
