Daniels quits MD post at Ogilvy Sydney
Mike Daniels, managing director of Ogilvy & Mather, Sydney has resigned after two years at the agency.
Daniels joined the Sydney-based agency in November 2008. Initially appointed as planning director and managing partner, he was promoted to managing director in March 2010. Prior to joining Ogilvy Sydney, he was group strategy director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco.
Ogilvy Australia’s new executive chairman, Tom Moult, who joined Ogilvy in early January, said he wished to thank Daniels for his contribution to the agency’s growth over the last two years, and wished him well in his future endeavours.
CEO, Stuart O’Brien would continue to run the Sydney operation while Andrew Baxter runs Ogilvy Group Melbourne including BADJAR Ogilvy.
“During my short time at Ogilvy,” said Moult, “I’ve been enormously impressed by the depth and breadth of the proven management team across Australia. As one of the strongest agency groups in the country, we are well prepared for a bright and challenging 2011.”

The IRONY!!!!
Now just get rid of the midget and Ogilvy might have a chance.
First one down.
Plenty more creative minds to go.
After all, they don’t REALLY make you the money you crave eh Tom?
Tom in, Mike out. Any more to it than that?

Uh…cognitive dissonance… Call me stupid, but….
From the trenches: A wave of optimism swept through 72 Christie Street today!
Fishy. At best.

What was the problem, Ogily insider. I’ve worked with Mike when he was a planner and he seemed to have his heart in the right place. Is it a case of a good planner doesn’t necessarily make a good manager? Dish the dirt.
Generally planners don’t make good managers. Period.
Nice guy. Wrong position. Came unstuck.
Not at all surprised, only at how long it took.
all these comments are typically what the malaise in Sydney is : that tall poppies are not tolerated as they give people inferiority complexes… grow up people. if he goes he goes, look forward to a new regime and wish the bastard well .
