After judging shortlist Jon Steel says Australian planning on par with its US and UK counterparts

apginvite.pngJon Steel, the Account Planning Group’s (APG) Creative Strategy Awards Chairman, has rated Australian planning on par with its US and UK counterparts. Steel made the comments after the presentations of the shortlisted Creative Strategy Award entries.

“I have previously been involved in judging planning awards in the UK and the US and was pleased to see that the standard of Australian entries was on par with that of its global peers,” he said.

“I was impressed with the innovative thinking and creative approacheson display, some of which are award winning already, some of which willbe recognised at the APG awards evening.”

From a record 188 individual entries, 27 case studies were presented tothe APG Panel of Judges, made up of agency leaders Sudeep Gohil(Droga5), David Hartmann (BMF), Phil Hayden (Naked Communications),Jeremy Nicholas (BMF), Paul Rees-Jones (Clemenger BBDO), Olly Taylor(Host). They will be considered for various category and special prizes.

Jeremy Nicholas, judge and chairman of the APG, added, “The level of interest in the awards and diversity of entries has been fantastic, especially in light of the introduction of channel strategy this year. The creative work was of great quality and shows the strength of our industry. We look forward to announcing the winners and celebrating what planners do well.”

Taking place on November 25, the Awards evening will celebrate- and reveal- the winners of a range of planning awards, and the coveted grand prix. The award night will take place at Simmer on the Bay in Dawes Point, Sydney from 6.30pm onwards.
