Droga5 Sydney’s ‘The Regulars’ spot for VB continues its Gold winning streak around the world, getting the Gold in the Alcoholic and non-Alcoholic category plus the chairman’s Award at the Kinsale Sharks, held on Saturday night in the picturesque town of Kinsale, Ireland.
The Aussie spot beat AMV/BBDO’s ‘Bring it to Life’ commercial for home town favourite Guinness, which won the Silver.
The Chairman’s Award was selected by Trevor Beattie, creative partner at BMB, London.

Such a piece of brilliance that the client ditched the entire strategy.
JR – you sound like one of the bitter hacks who gave this just a finalist at award.
Are you Australian?
Probably with that attitude, I would imagine, trying to make yourself feel better by pulling other people down.
bye for now hack twat,
lots of love xx
It comes down to was it good for the client, was it good for the consumer,
was it good for the agency.
One out of three’s not bad?
That’s great news – great ad!
An irish advertising award. The reason for entering this? Apart from the chance to have a cool shark statue on your desk?
Isn’t this ‘Award show a week’ thing getting a bit out of control. Sure, you enter your local industry award and compete on the international stage at Cannes or One Show. But what’s the point in entering award shows in Ireland? Except for the CD’s and creative teams using agency money to enhance their profiles.
There sure are a lotta obscure awards shows in the world…
How does a commercial about beer get Gold in the non alcoholic category?
I think a lot of people here are showing their lack of experience in the industry. And they’ve obviously never worked in London. Kinsale has been highly regarded in London for many years and most of the agencies there enter it. While it’s not D&AD or Cannes it is still highly regarded and the standard of entries is high. In fact, because most London agencies do enter, the standard is higher than Award is locally. Few Irish agencies ever win the big awards there. I’ve been many times.
In defence of your ignorance, I’m sure most of the London creatives who enter Kinsale would have never heard of a small time award show called Award either.
Because, 9.21, you twat……Its a world class pissup.
I’ve been to Kinsale a few times, and it is indeed a world class piss up.
It’s also a lot more interesting than Cannes, you meet a much nicer class of people, and you’ll probably learn more.
As for the awards, check out the standard of the winners yourself.
Wise words Mr. Dodds, couldn’t agree more. Thank goodness there are still a few experienced senior people around in the industry.
Tom, no Irish agencies ever win.
The awards are judged in two sections, the ‘local” show and the International show.
Dodds you old salt dog. When are we catching up for kippers?
