DDB Melbourne snares top creative team Brendon Guthrie and Tim Holmes from Grey
EXCLUSIVE – DDB Group Melbourne has snared creative duo Brendon Guthrie (far left) and Tim Holmes (left) from Grey Melbourne, to fill the roles of group creative director and head of art respectively – effective late May.
While at Grey, the pair worked across the agency’s client list, creating campaigns for John West, Leggo’s and the ‘Pictures of You’ campaign for the TAC, in the process picking up golds at The One Show, Clio and the New York Festivals and an almost full set of AWARD pencils.
Says DDB Melbourne ECD Grant Rutherford: “This is a fantastic coup forDDB. Brendon and Tim’s wealth of experience, maturity and creativitywill bolster our creative ranks exponentially. The whole agency is veryexcited. No pressure here boys.”
Says Guthrie: “After twenty years in advertising, I’ve changed jobsonly four times and Tim’s been at Grey for a decade, so we’re notexactly the types who rush into things. That said, what Grant iscreating at DDB Melbourne is something we really want to be a part of.He’s given us the opportunity to keep our creative partnership goingwhile helping to shape the future creative direction of the agency andthat’s a rare opportunity.”
They start at DDB Melbourne in late May.

Congrats Guthers and Tim.
All the best at DDB with Rubber, Pat & Beans. You totally deserve it. And on a more personal note, Guthers – I’ll miss the accidental catch ups at Movo and the many handshakes that went with them. You’re the man with the softest hands in advertising.
Jules
Jules, surely that’s the sort of luvvy duvvy personal stuff that’s better done in a phone call.
Don’t know them, but maybe they’ll put a few bones into the Heinz soup advertising.
That’s a coup. Top guys. DDB is like the Melbourne Storm without the salary cap schemozzle.
It’s true his hands are the softest.
Well done chaps. Brendon and Pat back together again at the same agency. Powerful stuff.
Congrats guys.
8.22. It doesn’t happen often, but nice comments are allowed on here.
‘Snares’? Did DDB pounce on them and force them into a hessian sack?
He may have the softest hands, but no one can top Chris Round when it comes to having the softest hair. Not even Graham Johnson.
