A great and talented bloke. You’ll be missed here mate. Good luck in Singapore. Go Cats!!
congrats james – your award school lecture this year was when everything started making sense
congrats and good luck james.
James, you’re a legend and you’ll kill it up there in Singapore. Enjoy the adventure mate, we’ll miss you.
He wasn’t the Creative Director of CumminsNitro for three years.
I guess it’s a step up, but it might be perceived as a move dictated by him not being the right person for GPY&R Sydney. In any case, it’s a new opportunity. And he’ll probably get paid shitloads to do it. Good luck to him.
What’s, the name of his replacement.
Congratulations James. Good luck with it.
“He wasn’t the Creative Director of CumminsNitro for three years.”
Shut up, Sean.
Congrats mate.
Remember to book a flight back to Melbourne for the end of September next year… Go Cats!
He was CD of CumminsNitro for three years – the three years that put that agency on the creative world stage. The guy’s a winner. Be gracious.
No need to come back next Sept James, Cats wont make the 8.
Good luck. Go saints.
Yeah he was only CD for half the time he was there. That’s actually true. Some great stuff did get done out of Cummins, but then Sean’s no stranger to awards. 4 Grand Prixs at Cannes 09 and all.
For what it is worth James’ tenure as CD at Cummins and Partners ran from late 2006 to about September 2008. The agency did score some local and international recognition during that time, but the more recent mega success of “World’s Best Job” is post his time and in any case was a product of the Brisbane office, not Melbourne.
If Cummins has been put on the creative world stage, it would be inaccurate to attribute that solely to James.

see what you did there?
Dear readers,
I cant remember exactly how long James was a creative director of my agency, but he was a great bloke, industry knowledgeable and just very nice to have around.
I personally enjoyed his company and he is a loving and committed family man.
I was excited for him going to GPYR in Sydney and I am excited for him in his new Singapore role.
You don’t always know what will work and what wont in the roles you choose, but I know that James has always done things with quiet integrity and boundless optimism.
Enjoy the journey James
My very best
Sean Cummins
Dear Readers,
I have never met James. I do not come from the world of advertising but, rather, from the world of the cinema.
However, he looks like a very nice chap. And based on the comments I have read above, he sounds very intelligent and decent.
Enjoy the journey, James.
My very best.
Sean Connery.
Dear Mr Cummins,
So thoughtful of such a busy and important industry figurehread such as yourself to take the time to set straight some clearly ill considered and ignorant comments regarding the time James spent under your wing.
Readers, please take Sean’s dressing down with good grace.
Sorry Sir.
10.47pm.
You are my hero.
I nearly fell off my chair laughing.
Again please.
Disastrous agency, horrible clients, pathetic work (the real stuff….and the ‘pro-active’ isn’t much better either) the money isnt too great from what ive heard…and working for a guy who went from art directing toy soldier ads to regional ECD of a major network, without the other jobs that come in between……what was granger thinking?
i heard theyve bin trying to fill that job for months but no one wanted it
