TAC YouTube channel drives home road safety message – attracts over 150k hits in a week
The Transport Accident Commission’s montage of 20 years of campaigns has attracted more than 150,000 views, just one week after going live on YouTube. The TAC’s YouTube channel went live on December 10, the 20 year anniversary since the first TAC campaign went to air. www.youtube.com/TAC showcases TAC advertisements created over the past 20 years, as well as the montage of the most memorable images from the campaigns.
The TAC’s Executive Manager Community Relations Phil Reed said the YouTube channel was
another way to get the road safety message out to young people: “YoungVictorians are a key focus of our work as they are tragicallyover-represented in the road toll. YouTube is one of many ways the TACis reaching out to young drivers.”
The best films from the Make a Film Make a Difference young filmmakers’ competition are also
on the channel. Says Reed: “In the lead up to Christmas we are lookingat all avenues to ensure everyone takes care on the road. The 20 yearmontage at www.youtube.com/TAC has created a new level of interest andsends a very powerful message about how road trauma affects ourcommunity.”
“As the year draws to a close we are working closely with Victoria Police to help keep the roads
safe. Remember, Victoria Police will catch you before somebody getshurt. Victoria’s road toll stands at 278 today and we are on track torecord the lowest road toll ever. But 278 families will sit down toChristmas lunch with a loved one missing,” Mr Reed said.
“For everyone’s sake, drive safely this Christmas”.
