UBET captures the thrill of the punt in brand new multi-million dollar campaign via The Monkeys
Australia’s premier wagering operator, UBET, will stage one of the biggest fightbacks in Australian sports betting history when its new brand campaign launches today via Sydney-based independent creative agency The Monkeys.
The multi-million dollar, integrated campaign taps into the emotional side of punting.
As part of the complete business overhaul, the new tagline “For the thrill of it” positions the brand in a fun and social light, bypassing the “winning is everything” mentality
and constant retail discounts.
The spots were directed by Ash Bolland via Curious Film, who pulled double-duty, also shooting the photography for press. Bolland is known for the unique visual style he’s brought to major commercials for Coca-Cola Amatil, Vodafone, HSBC and MTV.
In a large scale production, the shoot spanned 11 locations and involved 2 cane toads, 2 V8 Supercars, 4 racehorses, 5 camels, 5 animal wranglers, 46 crew and 276 talent.

Has so many elements that should make an engaging ad, but strangely it made me feel nothing at all. The VO is very uninspiring. And the edit is languid. It’s nicely shot though, and performances and mood are good.
Could be for any brand.
Well done guys – you’ve spent money on creating an ad for the category.
Reminds me, must go into TAB and get my money on Mayweather!
I really wanted to like this, but I don’t.
I have to agree with what “No Thrills” said, it also made me feel nothing at all.
A rhythmless edit, terrible music and a very uninspiring v/o.
I would never of guessed Bolland directed this. What went on behind the scenes with clients? Surely they have heavily controlled this commercial. Ubet they did!
Epic!! – music is OK. As expected amazing images from Bolland. But he has left Curious?!
Great pitch mood reel.
Cant wait to the actual work.
Yep, a category ad. Not like the category needs it. As a late entrant this is horrid.
Wow. What a steaming pile.
Looks like it was shot on digibeta. And that star wipe… I mean ‘spilt screen’ is seriously low brow. What a fail.
I like it. Classic.
So in short, it’s big.
Bolland is big (if he does say so himself).
The budget was big.
The crew was big.
Use of slow motion – really big.
Let us all grunt and beat chest in celebration as a voiceover says something about sports being about moments or…something
Also, why are all these sports bet commercials almost identical in style at the moment?
There’s lot’s to like, but it lacks some punch.
Should have forked out the extra cash and paid The Hives for the rights to ‘Tick Tick Boom’ instead.
Poor farang research. All gambling is illegal in Thailand
Great Ad! Great Job Monkeys! Wooohooo
It’s a shame you didn’t do your research…
‘Doesn’t matter if you’re in Ballerat ,Bangkok or Brazil’…..um well yes it does actually. Gambling in Bangkok is a illegal and serves a 12 month Prison Sentence.
EPIC FAIL!!!! Tatts Group will be wiping their hands of that Monkey Business!
