Tourism WA finally releases long-awaited tender
After a couple of months of false starts, Tourism WA has given agencies a Christmas present, releasing its long-awaited tender.
The extensive tender calls for a lead strategic and creative agency, and a panel of implementation agencies across various requirements.
Submissions are due on February 14, meaning agencies intending to participate will be hitting the ground running immediately after the Festive break for what will be one of the biggest pitches of recent years.
The account has been held by eastern states agencies for the past decade, first by Host and since 2014 by Cummins & Partners, but it is widely expected to come back to WA, given Premier Mark McGowan’s vocal support of WA business.
However, it will still be up to local agencies to put up a convincing case that they have the necessary expertise to lift the state’s tourist numbers, which are currently the worst in Australia.

Wow Even the release says it’s heading home.
“has given agencies a Christmas present”
Actually, the account would be considered a Christmas present. To the agencies who wish to take part in this debacle, it’s more of a ‘Congratulations, you get to work all Summer, and one of you might be rewarded for it”.
One to give a wide berth
Will be interested to see which agencies vie for this turd sandwich. Only slightly less turd-infused than Tourism NT.. but still very turdy nonetheless
Oh ho ho. Sitting on the tender for months then releasing it the week before Christmas? Will the first round be followed by another “casual” Q&A? (about as casual as a Senate committee hearing for the record) I guess they assume people in advertising would rather work on pitches than, you know, do some touring around WA.
