Tim Costello adds some spice to World Vision

World Vision’s CEO, Tim Costello shows he’s got a great sense of humour by appearing in a shower in his bathrobe in a spoof video of Old Spice’s ‘The Man Your Man Could Smell Like’ campaign. References to the Old Spice ad are sprinkled throughout the 1.37 second video which appeals for support for World Vision. He’s not quite in the same league as our friend, Isaiah Mustafa, but it’s a gallant effort.

He has been very badly advised to do this. And he reads very badly from the autocue.
Awesome work Tim! This clip made my day
As naff and zeitgeisty as this is…
Good work. It’s good to see a brand that deals with doom and gloom making a genuine attempt to connect with people.
Wow, the things you can do with iMovie these days.
And that adds to Tim’s realness. Kudos.
Fucking awful. I couldn’t watch it all.
Bloody Hell. . . If you are going to do something do it well. Why is he not delivering this down the lens . . . Unfortunately any good the parody is seeking is lost through crappy production value. It’s sad to see the waste of a good gorilla ambush go to hell in a hand basket . . .
AWK…WARD!!!!
For once I think you are all being too soft. This is so bad in so many ways it makes Tim look like a tool (which he is not) and seriously makes World Vision look unprofessional, random and second rate. A great example of how to stuff a brand in a minute and a half.
It’s so bad I would doubt an agency did this.
@7:19 …a ‘gorilla ambush’?
Is that like in Uganda when the larger silverback apes hide in the jungle alongside the track then suddenly jump out and surprise you?
Check out the comments on Youtube. Those are real people who think Cannes is what your beans come in. They’re people who use the internet to watch silly videos and donate money to worthy charities. And they love it. Someone should tell them that contrary to their opinions, this video is not actually good, because it will never pick up at one of the advertising industry’s 1223 award shows.
I agree. They could have found an actor and semi decent director to do this for free.
These guys are a charity, not a FMCG giant, of course their version is going to look a bit homemade if they do it themselves.
Good on them, the normal world vision ads risk becoming wallpaper as they roll out the same creative year and year. At least this will create some talk and awareness for them.
This is awesome.
SHAME ON YOU W+K. It’s blatant rip-offs like this that give the industry a bad name.
Badly advised.
This is fantastic work. The execution is obviously a little off – but what the fuck, so what. It speaks to a charity organisation prepared to take risks, and one that also can act quickly and make decisions. This one may (or may not) have worked – but the attitude certainly does. Congratulations World Vision + Agency.
OK. Done fast. Good on them…could any monolithic FMCG, utility or financial services client get this done in the time….I think not.awkward, buit fun. And the money is for a very worthy cause not a piss up at the Gutter Bar.
Nice one dad.
@10.17
That would be a surprise since there are no Gorillas in Uganda or mountains for that matter. Try Rwanda or Congo in future, you weren’t that far off though.
Who’s their agency?
@11:35
I appreciate you’re trying to be helpful, but perhaps these facts may help YOU:
(CAPS are mine)
“The world’s small remaining population of about 700 wild MOUNTAIN gorillas lives in the dense jungles of western UGANDA, eastern Congo, and north-eastern Rwanda.
Because of political instability in Congo and Rwanda over the recent two decades, tourists who want to embark on a MOUNTAIN gorilla safari have headed to two parks in UGANDA… …Bwindi and Mgahinga Parks…”

Hopefully this might clear the ‘mist’ for you.
