Thirty, flirty and thriving: Cutting Edge turns 30 and gets a makeover

Cutting Edge celebrated its 30th birthday in style at Brisbane’s Lina Rooftop last Friday, 7th October. It was an evening to remember with the company of clients and team members past and present who have been on this wild ride with CE for three decades now.

In this, its 30th year, Cutting Edge have adopted a new mantra: Thirty, flirty and thriving (emphasis on the thriving). There is not much CE haven’t seen or done over the years; the good, the bad, and the ugly.

As a leader in post production, CE is at the forefront of industry updates and technology enhancements. And while they’ve just turned 30, their still as passionate and committed to providing worldclass creative as ever. Cutting Edge approaches each year with a new and fresh outlook.

So, when it came to rebuilding its West End Studio after floods earlier this year, it was certainly up for the challenge. It is an absolute testament to the CE team and of course their loyal and ever expanding client base, that they have not only survived but thrived.

Trelise Blade, executive producer, said the rebuild was as much for the team as for their clients: “Cutting Edge has recreated a vibrant and welcoming space for collaboration and creativity. We wanted to make sure not just our team but our clients want to come back into the studio everyday. Once you’ve spent some time here you’ll never want to leave!”

The studio revamp has been a cosmetic upgrade with gorgeous furniture and studio fittings all throughout. But, its the technology upgrade that has really got the team excited.

The studio now features a 6.4m x 3.8m LED screen right in the heart of the building. With a lush lounge and greenspace area surrounding, the high-quality display showcases some of our creative projects – and what a sight it is.

Sound has also never looked so good. CE sound studios have been re-designed from the ground up and they truly are a visual and audio delight. Custom-made timber acoustic panelling and interactive lighting, state of the art desks, lush new sofas and ‘floating’ VO booths are all set for the highest level of isolation.

Kylee Ratz, group general manager who has celebrated 28 years with CE said, the whole Cutting Edge team are endlessly grateful for each and every one of their clients: “We have a loyal and expanding client base who have stood by us over the past 30 years and have continuously brought incredible work our way. We want to say a huge thank you, and we can’t wait to see you in the brand new studio.”
