The Salvo’s launches powerful film ahead of the Red Shield Appeal Doorknock this weekend
The Salvation Army Australia has launched its annual Red Shield Appeal, which aims to raise $38 million to ensure the charity’s 2000 services can continue to support Australians doing it tough.
The Salvation Army has launched a new TV commercial ‘The Amazing Grace’ to coincide with the Red Shield Appeal’s National Doorknock which takes place this weekend on Saturday 24 May and Sunday 25 May.
Last Friday night, the Oasis Ball and Campaign Brief WA Awards were held and the night raised just over $170,000 for The Salvation Army at Crown Towers Perth. With show-stopping entertainment and a cast of industry stars, the industry celebrated WA’s best advertising, media, and communications talent – all while the Oasis Ball Committee raised much needed funds for The Oasis Project, an initiative by The Salvation Army which helps provide safe and sustainable accommodation for young people as they transition to independent living.
The Red Shield Appeal funds help The Salvation Army deliver vital community programs and social services, such as:
- • Emergency financial assistance
- • Refuge for women and children in crisis
- • Shelter and support for those facing homelessness
- • Crisis, transitional and long-term housing
- • Youth drop-in centres and support programs
- • Emergency and disaster relief (immediate support, all the way to long-term recovery)
- • Drug and alcohol addiction recovery and rehabilitation support
- • Employment training programs
- • Chaplaincy
