The Imposterous: Rachel Lounds has a name for all of your problems, but its okay, Phoebe Sloane will be the Auntie that helps you sort them out

It’s a blockbuster start to the new year with two episodes of The Imposterous featuring more CCO’s than a midday Cannes ‘Creative Futures’ workshop with free Champagne. This week’s episodes puts people like Nils Leonard, Merlee Jayme, Rob Campbell and Fran Luckin on the analysts couch as we find out what they really mean from the POV of an expert in Imposter Syndrome. Followed up with a short intro into the fantastic and important work of The Aunties.

Rachel Lounds is a brilliant creative, just not in the way you might think. But she is most definitely something we’ve all thought about from time to time, ex-advertising. Prior to a long and rich career in production and creative services in such esteemed doorways as Droga 5, McCann and Leo Burnett, Rachel took a pause and quit. Since 2020 she has been a Certified Life & Mindset Coach and Imposter Syndrome Specialist.

In this episode Rachel gives her professional opinion on some of the key thoughts and topics that have come out of The Imposterous so far – even going so far as revealing the five types of imposter that we can all find ourselves in. Rachel is on a quest to help people in media and corporate who want to overcome negative thinking, lack of self-confidence, and imposter syndrome so that they can become the confident, courageous, phenomenal leaders they know in their heart they can be. In other words, she actually knows what she’s talking about. Phoebe Sloane is a Creative at Special Group, she is also an Auntie. The Aunties is a program that aims to inspire, protect, connect and champion women of all ages and backgrounds across Melbourne’s creative industries, through tailored mentorships, seminars and networking opportunities. In this episode Phoebe talks about they are offering mentorships to women entering the industry, levelling up those in mid-senior roles, a ‘future founders/leaders’ category that will connect women at an executive level and for the first time and even matching up mums with other mums.

“The Aunties” name pays tribute to and is inspired by legendary advertising mentor, Esther Clerehan, who often refers to herself as an “auntie” to the countless number of women she’s mentored over the years. As Phoebe says, ‘We hope that by having an Auntie, they’ll have an objective person they can confide in and establish a deeper connection with.”

With a new episode every Monday, The Imposterous is hosted by Michael Knox (ECD, Roller) and Graham Drew (CCO, Grey Malaysia) and as has been created to explore the theory that even the world’s most respected creative professionals suffer pangs of inadequacy that either stifle their potential brilliance or protect them from mediocrity. Tune in to find out how Imposter Syndrome might just be your super power, if you let it.
