The Courier-Mail + The Sunday Mail uncovers a positive plan for QLD in new GO QLD campaign
The Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail has this week announced the launch of ‘GO QLD’, a campaign that not only looks at what can be improved in the state, but develops a plan to get Queensland moving again.
The Courier-Mail editor Lachlan Heywood said the campaign will take a forensic look at Queensland’s key pillars of infrastructure and construction, tourism, mining and resources, education, agriculture and innovation. The campaign will examine both the challenges and the opportunities that will contribute to the development of a plan for Queensland’s future.
The Courier-Mail launched the campaign on Wednesday April 13 with an eight-page special feature including results from a specially commissioned research piece by demographer Bernard Salt called Envisioning A Better Queensland which compares life in the Sunshine State today with the pre Global Financial Crisis period leading up to 2008 when Queensland was the land of opportunity.
Says Heywood: “We believe it’s time for industry, business and community leaders to step up and start a conversation about how we get this great state moving again.
“This campaign will give a voice to our brightest thought leaders, highlight our innovators, celebrate our entrepreneurs, shine a spotlight on the barriers to economic and jobs growth, and champion change.
“Economic growth, business investment, construction work and employment are all at concerning levels and the state has reached a critical juncture as we move from the construction phase to a production phase in the resources sector.
“We are sending our journalists far and wide across this state to uncover challenges facing all Queenslanders and where the opportunities for improvement positive change exist.
“The campaign is designed to ignite debate across Queensland, but more importantly, deliver a blue print for the future.
“We will turn to our readers to help rank the priorities for the State, informing our action plan to get this great state moving again.”
Says Peter Gleeson, editor, The Sunday Mail: “This is a critical time for Queensland, and it’s time that we looked at formulating a plan that champions positive growth and big outcomes that will have a positive impact for all Queenslanders.”
More details about the GO QLD campaign will be announced in due course. The campaign hashtag is #GOQLD.
