4 Pines Brewing Co. launches new campaign for German style beer Kolsch via Dentsu Australia
Dentsu Australia has launched a new campaign for Kolsch, a German style beer brewed by the 4 Pines Brewing Co.
The campaign, featuring print, POS, radio and a 60 sec content piece, is based upon the tangled history of Kölsch and takes a laconic Australian view of what was obviously a very serious matter to the original German brewers.
The content piece was produced by Heckler, with animation director Mark Simpson leading the charge.
Says Pete Ogden, Dentsu Australia CD: “It’s been refreshing to be allowed to have lots of fun at someone else’s expense – namely the brewers of Cologne. It’s also been great keeping our relationship going with Heckler and Nylon, who once again have delivered above and beyond what was called for.”
Says Adrian Lugg, chief of arts and crafts at 4 Pines: “When the team at Dentsu Australia presented the campaign we immediately saw the breadth of its capabilities. Beyond its ability to anger ze Germans, most likely thwarting our plans of global market domination by 2065, it will hopefully educate beer drinkers on the serious cultural implications of style choice. Something the Germans have never had to worry about…”

Manages to be both racist and sexist at the same time.
Great end line.
Surprised Clever wasn’t offended by the grammarism. I think it manages to get in every cliché in and still get it right…unlike Modern Family in Oz.
Seems like an amalgam of several other beer campaigns, Becks, Black Star, Stella etc as does the end line, which is nowhere near as good as ‘Handbuilt by robots’ for Fiat.
Spitfire did this years ago, and better.
