Telstra gives State of Origin fans something to whistle about in ‘Wherever We Go’ remix

Telstra has used the blockbuster State of Origin decider to launch a playfully remixed version of its animated film ‘Duet’ launched last year, part of the brand’s ‘Wherever we go’ platform via Bear Meets Eagle On Fire and +61.
The new edit celebrates a wave of unexpected fan engagement that’s emerged since the campaign first launched, with viewers treated to a fresh version of the spot – this time stitched together from real TikTok clips of Aussies mimicking the now-iconic walk and whistle.
Some videos were heartfelt, others tongue-in-cheek, but as Telstra CMO Brent Smart noted on LinkedIn, every single one of them reflected a willingness to engage with the brand: “We’ve had a bunch of people make TikTok videos doing the walk and whistle from our ad, some positive, some negative, but all of them taking the time to engage with our brand and play with our brand. And we love that, so we decided to celebrate it on the biggest stage we could.”
