TECHNO CHICKEN A TOP BIRD
Domino’s new agency The Campaign Palace, Sydney has launched a campaign to celebrate Domino’s favorite chicken pizza: The BBQ Chicken and Bacon Pizza.
The Palace created a full length Techno Chicken music track and music video, starring a real chicken. The unbranded music video will be played on Channel V and other music programs.
This will be accompanied by cut down 15 sec and 30 sec branded commercials on V and other channels. Some promoting the pizza, others driving people to dominos.com.au to order the pizza and get a free Techno Chicken ring tone.

That rocks. Or raves should i say.
THAT’S SO FUN!
I’m not sure your pizza-chomping consumer wants to be reminded that the chicken on his pizza is a slaughtered bird that spent its short life couped up in a cage.
That would also be my criticism of the current advertising for Nandos.
Old-fashioned wisdom is that it’s best to sell the meal, not the meat. Not that there’s much room for wisdom in adland these days.
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse tis comes along….truly terrible.
foul
thats pretty stupid, its about as good as a ring tone ad. but i guess its only vominos.
Nice.
But derivative of so may things.
Cluck me! This is the best clucking ad Dominos have ever clucking done. Nice clucking work all!!
Techno Chicken, Crazy Frog … meh.
Cockle Doodle Do. Great.
it’s good…
but not this good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI7hOnpU9dY
Lots of puns here.
kind of scary, even as a joke.
I am wondering whether the prouction company posted the spot on here. It’s just that there are no creatives listed as such. I know that a production company posted one of my jobs on here a while back and it copped the usual dose of meaningless venom. The point is that the production company – that is great – never asked my view on posting the spot on here and I probably would have declined. Has this been an issue for anyone else?
What the cluck was that ?! Shithouse.
This is much better – Herzog’s Gabber original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUcTvhyof8I
saw this ad on TV + and then on You Tube. Very different comments on this site. Makes me think some people are just out of touch.
The only thing being fed by this ad is the chooks.
I predict this one is going straight to Cannes. They’ve already dubbed it into french: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VxJV9hKonQ&feature=related.
Remember. Now we all have the interweb your creative laziness will never go unpunished
Nice to see the Palace girls and boys still using the blog to up their work.
gave me a giggle.
Bonds Mash… RUBBISH. Hoodie… Ok at best. As for Dominos, I saw the cheer leaders spot… RUBBISH. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse out comes Techno chicken. What are you guys doing to that poor poor brand? This stuff is much much worse than the stuff that was coming out of Adelaide. (And I didn’t think that was possible.)
Subservient Chicken from Crispin… Genius (as were all the other chicken ideas they’d done for BK)
Mr. Client if you are reading this I’d be moving you’re business elsewhere. You’re becoming what we call in the business a rape victim. If this rubbish gets results I’ll be very very suprised. (The fact that the agency is putting this up on the blog suggests you guys aren’t responsible)
This truly is RUBBISH. The Palace is officially a bloody train wreck.
Ps. When the idea is to do something in a style that is ‘So bad it’s good’ it always ends up just being bad. The music is the worst rendition of an old cheesy techno track and so is the Video clip and much worse still the ad.
Pizza ads should be capturing the attention of the nation. I’d hate to say it but the only people that are remotely doing an interesting job (I say that loosely) in the category are McDonalds.
“Old-fashioned wisdom is that it’s best to sell the meal, not the meat.”
I completely agree…
Attach your names to your comments … you bunch of chickens!!!!
sorry….
That’s awfull. seriously.
I thought it was from Advertising Advantage when I saw it on tele.
Im really embarrassed for the Palace.
This is campaign you run when your brand or product obviously has nothing relevant at all to say.
Now that I’m love with this adorable, pill-pumped chook and have downloaded the totally awesome ringtone, the last thing I want to do is go and order me and my gal pals a chicken pizza.
All I can think of is breasts and thighs, but that’s got nothing to do with seeing this shite.
You should leave the business immediately. The fact that you get paid to judge concepts then recommend this as a business solution to a client is a joke. Even worse you promote it which truly reflects you’re desperation for some kind of attention.
Brave and bold. I’m with You Tube on this one.
gravy
i agree with 8:44 that cockshadow vid is much better. a better idea too.
Why is it that every fucking agency involved with selling something chicken do chicken jokes?
I know one!
Why did the chicken change agencies?
To keep abreast with sales!
Sometimes I just don’t believe this industry. How can people get paid for doing something like that.
FAAAAAARRRRKKKK MEEEEEEEEEEEE
So that’s where chicken meat comes from!
Brilliant strategy plan to show the factory.
Fucking brilliant!!!!!!!
Pill popping chickens. Just as I expected. Domino’s, thank you for a great educational campaign.
If I’m guessing right, this ad is about the bad trip the chicken goes on in his coop after ingesting bovine growth hormones?
Well done all round.
Wow! I really do have a future if I go to Sydney for work.
Hey it’s funny. It ain’t art but it’s funny.
Actually I take that back – it is art and it’s funny.
Allons ! Cette idée a été faite d’abord, et meilleur il y a une année et a même le même nom ! Poulet de Techno.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VxJV9hKonQ
eeww I just vomited in my mouth halfway through.
Techno is dead and so is this style of advert.
Note to Palace, in terms of credibility , when posting an ‘amateur’ video of the chicken ‘hitting the streets’ it is best not to have the opening shot of the chickens coming out the front door of the agency.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLmG6x41PuE&feature=related
That is totally annoying. So clucksy.
Oil change at nylon has done an excellent job with this one
Two words, Chicken Shit!
over all not bad for a domino’s ad.
the song is a bit long and not cool – would have nice if they had got a decent artist to make them a track rather than just being lazy and going for the “irony” vote.
Australia has so many cool techno/dance outfits – all the artists at modular – muscles, cutcopy etc. I’m sure one of them would have done it for the money and done it better.
It always amazes me that we have so much cool talent outside the ad industry but we all persist in going to the same old places to get our shit done. We’re all just lazy, i suppose.
I’d love to see all agencies work a % of profit – win win both sides. Good work reaps good rewards……
I can’t decide if the client is incredibly brave or incredibly shallow.
Lionel would turn in his grave….if he was dead.
I think its something like this..
Its not cool… but either was crazy frog, and this is more of the same.
but its kinda cool for dominos.. so well done.
My nanna will love it!!!
This ad sums up the current situation of poor old Campaign Palace. Rise rise rise rise rise to new heights of advertising in Australia….. hold that position for ten years….. then a fall fall fall fall to end up producing a techno chicken ad for a retail pizza chain. Ouch. This agency makes CHE look like a red hot agency at the moment.
that’s bloody funny. fortune favours the brave.
CB, Campaign Palace…..can you please post the credits for ‘chicks hitting the streets’.

Like everyone on this blog, I couldn’t believe they’d degrade a little chooky and remind everyone where all those nasty little bits of shriveled chicken topping come from. But then I read the positive YouTube posts. As an industry, we really are quite out of touch with the average punter, aren’t we?
9:36 this site isn’t an insight into what’s good work and why. It’s an insight into how we are as an industry.
CHICKEN SHIT.
WHAT HAS HAPPEN TO THE PALACE?
If you create something and post it on youTube and it appears next to five or six things with the same name, how can you justify spending client money on it? Isn’t the point of a creative dept. to create something? A production company could’ve copied a successful idea from youTube without the help of creative.
Techno Chicken has been done by a French chicken food brand.
Techno Chicken dancing on the streets has been done before by someone else and has almost a 1/4 million hits.
The formula at the Palace seems to be look it up on youTube and copy it.
9:36 – I am a punter, as any good creative should be. And I think it smells like dynamic lifter.
At least it’s not brand power. I reckon the Nylon guys have put this up. Lets face it, its neither creative nor directorial gold, but it showcases some solid sound design I guess. Does anyone actually look at a live chicken on telly and want to go eat a dead one? Bit freaky. Maybe to connect the campaign to purchase decision the folk at Vominos could make the box make a final death-squark as you open it.
To everyone who thinks that the positive feedback on YouTube means anything, check out some of the feedback posters. People like http://www.youtube.com/user/jacktion1972 who says “That’s plucking awesome, nice one dominos”. His one and only post on You Tube is of him, wearing the dominos chicken outfit, walking around Campaign Palace’s offices. That is like *really* sophisticated guerilla seeding.
Well done guys.
Its a bit of fun and the TVC made me laugh.
So many bitter people on this blog. Its acutally quite sad.
Maybe you should all go to you tube to see what everyone really thinks.
If you’re going to do an ad for chicken and bacon why leave out the pig. Would’ve been better to have pig come in with an oink oink. before you knock it suggest you get second opinion
This looks great and is funny
Before we all get carried away. Let’s ask Monty?
Monty, chicken and Olives?
Considering Domino’s is such a right wing company with its past advertising to reflect this, the ad may very well fly their advertising to new heights.
In saying that I think campaign palace is very clever by using the brand colours on the dance floor and has effectively killed two birds with one stone.
2 puns – 1 cliché. I dare you to do better.
IGHTSPFMNWG
clucking funny!
plagiarism –
noun
the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.
I don’t blame the junior creatives for this to them it’s about keeping a job, but this should have been stopped from the top people. The CD’s of Campaign Palace should be embarrassed. I though it was their job to inspire and guide creative.
And I’m pretty sure plagiarism considered a prosecutable crime in some countries.
Is it just me or are the Comm Bank ads getting better?
Great work. Shame I can’t say the same about the pizza.
Not really the appropriate blog, but I swear I’ve been seeing ads for a women’s product featuring a beaver. Or was I way too stoned?
stop being so fucking pompous.
the fully sick boys & girls will love it. and they’re more likely the target market.
Cock sweat.
Glass Cock
Fully sick? Silly fuck.
I LOVE YOU TECHNO CHICK!!!
cool touch with the music vid. Good work.
ONE COOL CHOOK.
big step for the brand that’s for sure. nice to see how people are reacting to it on you tube. worth a read.
yeh the people commenting on youtube are from the palace..
it would be nice to see how the PUBLIC responds..
too bad nando’s have got a similar idea out at the moment.
theirs is executed a lot better!
gorila anyone?
what’s with all this copycat stuff? Look at Drench, also very similar. It’s been playing in the UK for months now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rAMAjVJqsA
9.47am how can you even compare these two?? what because they both have something dancing to music.
Show me one commercial that any of you have ever done that is truly original and I’ll give you a pat on the back. You all rip off each others ideas all the time who are you kidding.
love it. well done
pure gold. music video is hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvZrhdy2UdY&NR=1
good work.
smile
