TABOO hires Jacqui Walker as creative operations director and Ryan Clayton as creative director

TABOO has announced the appointment of Jacqui Walker (left) as Creative Operations Director and Ryan Clayton (right) as Creative Director. These are the first two key hires made by newly appointed Executive Creative Director Charlotte Adorjan (centre), who is building a world-class, creative department at TABOO. The hires come off the back of several new business wins, soon to be announced.

Walker brings over two decades of experience in production, having delivered award-winning integrated campaigns across Australia and New Zealand. With a sharp eye for strategic production solutions, she’s worked with iconic brands such as the Australian Defence Force, National Disability Services, McDonald’s, and Volkswagen. A passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Jacqui has been a driving force for change within the industry, recently speaking on a trans-Tasman panel for International Women’s Day 2023.

Clayton, with 17 years of experience in creative communications, joins TABOO from a long-standing tenure leading the AAMI Insurance business at Ogilvy. His work, known for their social impact and behavioural change, have garnered numerous awards. Clayton’s portfolio boasts collaborations with brands and government departments like AAMI, BMW, Metro Trains, and the ACCC. His deep understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks and his knack for creating human-centric ideas set him apart in the creative industry.

Says Charlotte Adorjan, Executive Creative Director at TABOO: “Jacqui and Ryan are both wonderful humans doing wonderful things in the world. I love that Jacqui is a passionate advocate for diversity in production, getting shit done in a beautifully progressive way and is really leading the charge. Ryan is an incredible mentor as Head of Award School and is the calmest creative I’ve ever met. Like a highly skilled, design-trained swan, he delivers beautiful, razor-sharp ideas while seemingly never breaking a sweat. He joins the department off the back of his new role as Chief Dad Officer to baby Ashton and I’m thrilled to offer flexible working to support that not-so-little side hustle. Both Jacqui and Ryan are helping to build my vision for a world class creative department full of world class humans.”

With these appointments, TABOO is taking bold steps toward redefining its creative offering, continuing to break bad rules for good reasons.
