Sydney-based agency The Pulse lures Foxtel’s Dillon Hicks for inaugural head of production role
Sydney-based agency The Pulse has appointed the former head of production at Foxtel Dillon Hicks to the newly created role of head of production.
At Foxtel Hicks was a founding member of the senior leadership group at the Australian pay TV giant’s full-service creative production hub, Felix.
In his new role, Hicks will lead The Pulse’s team of developers, 3D artists, motion designers, creatives and producers to deliver communication across education, corporate training, health and entertainment.
At Foxtel, Hicks oversaw the internationally-awarded “Make It Yours” campaign, played key roles in the launch of the company’s SVOD service Foxtel Now and broadband offering and produced a series of television and online commercials featuring Chris Hemsworth for the relaunch of Foxtel’s iQ3 set-top boxes and Foxtel Movies offerings.
In joining The Pulse, Hicks says he’s excited to look at storytelling in a different way: “One of the key things that brought me to The Pulse was the ability to explore and push the boundaries of storytelling in the mixed reality space in particular,” he said. “I’m convinced this role puts me at the very forefront of global creativity.”
As the agency ramps up production with the launch of a world-first collaborative VR platform, Hicks’ appointment bolsters the senior team to enable The Pulse to capitalise on the opportunities ahead.
The Pulse general manager Michelle Schuberg says Hicks will play a key role in The Pulse’s continued growth: “Since taking over as GM earlier this year, the breadth of opportunities for technology to push the boundaries of creative communication has continued to astound me,” she said.
“To be able to attract a world-class talent like Dillon, is testament to the great team we have here and the exciting future ahead.”
Prior to his work at Foxtel, Hicks was instrumental as head of production at Moon Communications, where he established a high-volume integrated production offering to service its newly acquired Westfield account. With his model showing immediate success, all agency production resources were brought under Hicks’ leadership within six months, servicing all clients across the company’s Sydney and New York offices.
