WTFN’s ‘Tony Robinson Explores Australia’ premieres tonight, showcasing stop animation techniques by Popcorn Creative
Commissioned by WTFN, Popcorn Creative produced the broadcast brand, full graphics packages for the new series ‘Tony Robinson Explores Australia’ which will premiere tonight, Tuesday 3rd May 2011 on the History Channel in Australia and distributed to the UK.
The creative process used a stop animation technique and Popcorn Creative executed a comprehensive shoot to deliver opening titles using a modern stop motion animation style of unfolding origami as a style reflecting the host’s story-telling personality supported with detailed animated in-show travel maps.
The result is bold and entertaining, complimenting the host andappealing to the target audience. The work demonstrates Popcorn’sability to produce high quality broadcast design for thetravel/lifestyle market.
Respected as a boutique studio that oozes creative flair, Popcorn Creative is driven by their distinctive and exhaustive story boarding process. It is this process which differentiates their service offer, coupled with their high-end quality animations. Having produced 35 storyboards to deliver the animated openers and map templates for WTFN’s editing process, the final project was re-branded for international distribution.
WTFN’s head of post production, Stephen Rees, describes Popcorn’s work as “outstanding, the Popcorn Team nailed the concept development with a super comprehensive story board presentation that allowed us to get a very clear picture of the proposed finished production. We have now worked together on 6 projects over the past 12 months, all of which have been delivered to spec, delivered on time and on budget and most importantly all of which were produced to a very high standard.”
Just 4 years in the making, the inner Melbourne agency has worked with global brands such as Castrol on the World Cup 2010 to Castrol Racing Academy & Heros in the Middle East. On the national front Popcorn’s work extends from recent commissions with MCM Media on ‘Take 40 Live’ and ‘Live at the Chapel’, to WTFN on Channel 10’s ‘Bondi Vet : Your Very First Puppy’, adding digital design brilliance to each project.
It is Popcorn’s inapt ability to design respecting core brand values and with the end consumers emotive objective in mind that has ensured it’s stream of successes.
Steve Oemcke, director production & development at WTFN describes Popcorn Creative’s work in his statement, “Popcorn Creative just keep on delivering outstanding results for us.
We have collaborated on six projects to date, each presented to a high standard reflecting our own brand values. The latest one, Tony Robinson Explores Australia, is their best work yet!”.
