Stephen Fry voices three new Honda commercials for Draftfcb Melbourne
Draftfcb Melbourne has launched a new brand direction for Honda with a suite of television commercials voiced by Stephen Fry. The campaign, which is initially spearheaded by TV and outdoor, brings to life Honda’s long held international strap line “The Power of Dreams” by asking two recurring questions. What if? and What’s next?

Honda Australia’s General Marketing Manager Kevin Lillie explains:”Honda is a brand known for it’s technical precision and innovation, but the creative spirit that drives the brand is often hidden. Wewanted to bring that joy and humanity of Honda to the surface. Thiscampaign is a wonderful realization of our dream.”
Three inital TVC’s created by Draftfcb Melbourne, based on the concept of looking into the creative mind of Honda’s engineers, are voiced by Stephen Fry.
This is the first Honda campaign from Draftfcb’s new Creative Director Mat Garbutt. “Too much advertising today seems to be afraid to say something. Honda has so many wonderful stories to tell, and we wanted to tell those stories in a clever, joyful way that reflects the truth of Honda. We wrote this campaign with Stephen’s voice in mind. He has that delightful combination of intelligence, wit, and joy that was a perfect match for Honda.”
Honda Advertising Manager Jason Miller said, “The first three TVC’s cover Accord Euro, Civic, and for the first time on TV, the Civic Hatch. We are also using large format outdoor for Euro and Civic. But over the next 12 months, you’ll see us rollout the entire campaign covering all of our models and activity. We have changed from Honda’s traditional approach of positioning each vehicle separately, to one where the core brand truth is central, and each vehicle is allowed to shine as a demonstration of that truth.”

Great job guys. Great job on very touch brief.
These were fun to watch thanks
finally some memorable car ads – Stephen Fry, how much did THAT cost???
ha ha You first two guys are joking, right?
These are appalling.
so THAT”S why he wouldn’t do my commercial last year! Well done guys.
great.
really like
I have an idea! Stephen Fry!
As usual Australian clients lack the sophistication and the balls to live-up to a global brand. Compare this to the work done out of London and it’s embarrassing. A little more faith in your audience please.
I really, really like these spots.
They’d still be good if Stephen Fry didn’t do the VO.
Nicely art directed and beautiful animation.
I’d rather watch these than any Holden/Ford/Mazda/Mitsubishi/Toyota shit that seems to defecate from my TV so often.
Fry sounds a little cheesy. A bit saganaki.
Well, I think we can see the fcb self promotion comments.
Oh, a rule of thumb. Don’t use the term ‘tested for the unexpected.’ it is, after all, one of the most famous ad lines in history.
And just because Stephen fry did the vo for ‘little big planet’ doesn’t mean you can rip off the entire intro idea.
`STEPHEN FRY IS THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THEM. OTHERWISE CRAP.
Saganaki. That’s funny.
I had a feeling he was doing the voice over for those ads! 😀 <3
When I first saw the ads, I couldn’t believe it was the real Stephen Fry because the dialogue was so cheesy. Until I stumbled upon this page, I actually thought the voice over was someone imitating Fry!
But did Honda really discover gravity is real??
