Squeak E. Clean Studios taps Richie Buxton for music producer role based in Melbourne
Global creative audio network Squeak E. Clean Studios has brought on musician and producer Richie Buxton as music producer out of its Melbourne studio.
Fusing over a decade of audio post and composition experience in advertising with a successful stint as a touring musician and producer with Australian artist Ecca Vandal, Buxton unites a deep understanding of brand audio needs with a timely cultural awareness of today’s music.
Having performed throughout Australia, UK and Europe, he brings along an extensive network of global artists actively entrenched in the music scene with a passion for seeing diversity and representation in this space and a keen eye for giving indie artists opportunities to partner with brands to create musical synergies that align with cultural trends. Buxton’s diverse musical experience spans compositions for spots with top brands such as NAB, Bank of Melbourne, League of Legends (Riot Games), Holden and Apple TV’s series “Dickinson.” Buxton has toured extensively performing on some of the world’s most renowned stages including the O2 Brixton Academy in London, Reading and Leeds Festival, Afropunk (Paris) and Download Festival (UK).
Says Karla Henwood, executive creative producer, Squeak E. Clean Studios: “We’re always looking for growth opportunities for our music team in Australia, with an eye towards enticing the best people, so I’m really thrilled to have Richie come on board. His experience and music knowledge is an awesome addition to our team, not to mention he’s also a totally rad guy to work with.”
Adds Buxton: “Squeak E. Clean Studios has built an amazing global team of super talented creatives that is truly second to none. Music has the power to be one of the most impactful components of an ad and the team here consistently brings their A game when it comes to collaborating with brands. Music has, and always will contribute to culture, and it’s great to work with a team that specialises in this area where we can partner with brands to find their sonic identity that will truly set themselves apart from the rest. I’m really excited to step into this role and bring together my experiences as a composer, touring musician and music producer to align brand’s with music that is relevant in today’s pop culture landscape.”
After studying Jazz and Pop Music Composition out of the Box Hill Institute of Melbourne, Buxton dove head first into the live music scene, regularly composing and performing music locally. In 2007, he joined Sound Lounge (Method Studios) as an assistant engineer, quickly rising in the ranks to become a senior composer and sound engineer. He spent 10 years with Method studios, working on a wide range of commercial projects for such brands as NAB which landed the MADC award for “Best Original Music in Film” (2012). In 2017, upon the successful launch of his partner’s critically acclaimed self-titled debut album “Ecca Vandal,” he stepped away from the commercial music space to dedicate himself full time to writing, producing and touring. With the halt of live performances amidst the pandemic, Buxton eagerly returns to his roots in commercial music, bringing a highly informed perspective on emerging music trends.
