Sonar Music musician Jono Ma hosts packed event ‘SPACE IS THE PLACE’ at Paramount House
Last Saturday renowned musician Jono Ma from Sonar Music hosted SPACE IS THE PLACE, an epic evening of cosmic jazz, at Paramount House in Sydney.
SPACE IS THE PLACE featured Australia’s premier jazz drummer Laurence Pike alongside his band BELIEVE and surprise guest The Avalanches.
Ma is a celebrated musician, award winning composer, producer, mixer, musical director and DJ.
Having spent the past five years overseas producing, writing and mixing albums, Ma is now back in Sydney returning his focus to music composition and hosting curated music events.
He has a long history of working on award-winning soundtracks with his team at Sonar Music. His film portfolio includes campaigns for Nike, Qantas, CBA, ADIDAS, Samsung and award winning films including Animal Kingdom, Not Suitable for Children, and Machine.
Ma is recognised as one of Australia’s most prized music producers and curators. His long list of international artist collaborations includes writing, producing, and touring alongside Andrew Weatherall, Mark Ronson, Floating Points, Tame Impala, The Avalanches, Foals, Underworld, Warpaint, Phillipe Zdar, Cassius, The XX, Markus Dravs (Coldplay/Arcade Fire), What’s So Not, Flume and Four Tet.
He recently produced the latest Flight Facilities album, ‘FOREVER’, and served as musical director and music producer for Genesis Owusu, when he was awarded ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2021 ARIA Awards.
Earlier in the year Ma hosted a series of pop up events including artists like Jamie XX, Peggy Gou, Four Tet and Fred Again.
