Skinny’s latest ambassador is an AI clone of a real customer in new campaign via Colenso BBDO

New Zealand telco Skinny has unveiled its latest campaign featuring what the company claims is a world-first innovation: an AI-generated brand ambassador based on a real-life customer. Developed in partnership with Colenso BBDO, the campaign introduces Liz from Kerikeri, a longtime Skinny customer whose AI clone is starring in a series of new ads.

Dubbed Skinny’s happiest customer, Liz was selected as the new AI-created brand ambassador after a nationwide search that attracted over 300 entries in just two weeks. In exchange for taking on this world-first role, she will receive Skinny mobile credit for life, along with a talent fee for her involvement and the use of her likeness.

In a LinkedIn post, Skinny brand manager Emma Carpenter described the campaign as more than just a fun experiment, calling it a bold move that reinforces the brand’s commitment to innovation and cost-effectiveness.

The campaign was created in collaboration with Colenso BBDO, PHD, Anthem New Zealand, Platform29, FINCH, and Creature Post NZ. Keep an eye out for Liz as she starts appearing across Skinny’s advertising.
