Where are the women?
Is this 1622 or 2022? Very disappointing
a beautiful island nation of all men
A panel of 6 men from adland… where is the representation of women from the industry?
This is seriously tone deaf.
???
er:szh – planert er
oOh deer doo hoep tHEy ar in tarch
weave tHEre femineyen seyed
au – engl:sh translate (transearly)
oh dear do hope they are in touch
with their feminine side
???
Taking a slightly different approach to my reaction to this as a female CD. Here is some ‘feedback’ I’ve received over the years that has been reversed to be more applicable to this post.
‘Some good looking with no talent just fly under the radar and wheeeeeeeeeeeee! Now they are ’
‘And , you! You must be the PA’
‘Wow, you are so beautiful. You’d look better with a shaved head’
‘I’d really like to see some of your work, what’s your website called? Big dot com?’
I speak for the females in creative leadership roles who have success despite the blatant sexism, unsolicited comments and/or advances and in this case, very obvious ‘unconscious’ bias.
Announcing a jury of this calibre and cross section pre-dates the shift we are slowly seeing globally, but reiterates that more still needs to be done. It’s also for female CDs and ECDs (there is only one CCO) to be reminded that while we are of equal calibre to these 6 men, but in this case, will not be recognised for it.
women are from Venus and men are apparently from Australia.
Kiwis doing it right…

So women representing NZ is right
Men representing Australia is wrong.
Maybe they were selected because they were the best of the bunch…*shock horror*
If you honestly think these blokes are that much better than just 1 female creative leader in Australia, you’re probably part of the problem.
Why stop at gender? How about race? LGBQTI+?
How about we just ignore talent altogether.
Are you saying there’s not one female creative in the whole country that deserves to be part of the “best of the bunch”?
Hey @Adfest – if you can’t figure out how to find great female creatives please give me a call at Suits&Sneakers. Really poor show in 2022. Some great talent in this line up but no one is so amazingly better than some industry females though. Hope this is an eye opener for other awards.
maybe im saying its based on merit…*shock horror* instead of woketocracy.
Female creatives are behind the best work too … *shock horror*
Female creative leaders have lead some of the best work out of the country … *shock horror*
Saying male creatives are the only ones who deserve merit for this is misogynistic … *shock horror*
Only 11% of creative leaders are female so it’s fair to say we are already underrepresented … *shock horror*
Australia ranks 50th in the world for the gender pay gap … *shock horror*
If you think all genders having the same opportunities is “woketocracy” then you are part of the problem. Hopefully you aren’t a creative director or in any sort of management position.
Sausagefest?
So disappointed with the lack of “diversity” that they mentioned.
Not saying these guys aren’t talented, but would love to know the criteria in how just men were chosen without so much as someone blinking an eye. It’s 2022 ya’ll, get with the times.
Considering bringing this to my media buddies attention to do a story about. An absolute joke.
